Watkins really would be fantastic. He does seem to have all the natural attributes to do well in the prem and can free up a foreign signing in another position.

Good info from D1. But still find it a tiny bit alarming that we aren’t super close to signing a striker.

also, Is it just me or is he a bit more chatty in this window versus recent years? Must be closer to info again. Regardless nice to see he is sharing again.

It's just a reference to All or Nothing, in which the documentary made Levy look a bit silly for not bringing in a striker after injuries to Sonny/Kane (h) derailed the season.

Doesn't exactly fit the remit of a need-to-fill position in the squad though, and the general jist seems to be that we'd need to cough up £20m to £25m for him, which is strange if we could be using that money for another area. Assume they know what they're doing though.

Levy obviously was on holiday when it happened first time round so missed how shit we were without Harry until he sat down to watch the documentary.

With respect, it wasn’t the documentary that made Levy look silly, it was his decision not to bring in a striker. All the documentary did was film it...

You mean the one where he says "Here's your expensive striker Poch" and then Poch "What striker?" then winks to the camera. Cue canned laughter.

The problem we had was letting it get to the point of having just one, and that's just the problem when you inherit someone else's squad - especially when they have a completely different idea of roles (note the reference to "Jose's type of forward").

As will be the case as ever, the manager has to agree with the type of player coming in. People will have their own ideas of who we should sign, or ITK of who we have been offered or enquired about, but none of those indicate who Jose will green light. I'm much happier with the names we have been linked with this week, rather than the older has-been ones which people were desperate for last week

One more thing it’s not impossible that we buy two strikers , it could be Watkins plus the other guy I’m referring to , the other guy is 40 mill now if the price comes down to 25-30 and we can shift a few players we may do both deals

when speculating on signings you should look at our pattern , with the exception of holberg and the wolves Lad who were both good deals to very specific areas we needed all our other recent buys are Late teens to early twenties with huge potential ceilings , ie 100 million players if they fulfill their potential

Exciting to hear dragon1 saying we're in for multiple strikers. You would hope that one of them is close, given that the season starts this week.

Of course the internationals may have slowed things down slightly depending who the mystery man is, but as we've seen with Doherty and Hart, we seem to be capable of keeping things under wraps until very late stages nowadays, so let's hope something moves quickly and we get someone in before the Everton game.
