If the FA insisted this game goes ahead, what should our stance be? I wouldn't be happy with us fielding ANY first team players if there's even the slightest risk that one of their players might have Covid.

I assume Leyton Orient will refuse. For a start their training ground and stadium are closed until further notice, according to them.

Am I alone in feeling sorry for them if we get a bye?
No, not at all. It's becoming a bit of a broken record but if there had been fans in the stadium it would've been an incredible atmosphere and Kane was clearing looking forward to it (like, the event itself, not necessarily playing because I hope he wouldn't have been on the team sheet).

Be odd to delay a 3rd round game by 2 weeks or more though.
Might as well just give us a by if they are unable to play

I guess we'll find out tonight or early tomorrow. Feel bad for the players out sick and hope for a speedy recovery.

A bye would make sense. Then take the first team there for a pre season friendly in the summer when the crowds are hopefully allowed back in.

No. Justin Edinburgh foundation was going to raise funds through the jerseys in this game. And to be honest I dont see why they still cant auction off jerseys for the cause.

They could also have done with the tv money.

Although we could do without the game it's sad for them

Bye is the only option as much as it sucks considering the Edinburgh foundation. Maybe the players could all put some of their wages in? I'm sure Kane would lead that as he is sponsoring Orient. Our fixture list is congested enough as it is without a postponed fixture.

Why don't we just auction off Son & Harry's shirts from the Southampton game? I'm sure they'll raise a lot more. I mean who were going to play realistically? At best Dele and that's it. I'm sure Harry and Son's shirts will raise more than Clarke, Foyth, Sessegnon etc...

Maybe we will give them the equivalent amount as a matter of goodwill should the game be cancelled and us go through.

In the europa league if a team can’t fulfil the fixture the game is awarded to the other side so the same could happen here.

Hopefully something fair will come out of it.

So Gundogan tests positive and nobody's talking about Wolves v City being postponed because the rest of the squad have all tested negative. What's the difference here, is it that the rest of the Orient squad haven't been tested so aren't all in the clear?

I hope Orient at least get some compensation for lost TV money and the Edinburgh foundation also gets what they were meant to get from this if this gets called off.

EFL rules for non-fulfilment of fixtures

5.1 A Club which is unable to fulfil its obligation to complete a Competition match in Round One to (and including) Round Four due to either:
5.1.1 that Club’s Player(s) having returned a positive CAT result and self-isolating in accordance with the action plan set out in the Return to Play/Return to Training Protocols resulting in the Club not having a sufficient number of Players to fulfil the fixture; or
5.1.2 any requirements or directions of the UK Government and/or by any public authority,
shall forfeit the fixture, pay the opposing Club’s expenses in accordance with Rule 5.8 and the opposing team shall receive a bye into the next round of the Competition.

Seems shit, but those are the rules

It's a shame this on many levels, but I don't see how you can do anything other than give us a bye

The fixture list is horrendous, and think of the precedent it sets if you delay the game - we could end up with tons of games piling up towards the end of the season

This is definitely going to end up coming round and happening to us....

This is so shit for Orient, this was the perfect fixture for them. I was really looking forwards to it as well.
