Still feels like the two areas of main concern are a dribbling winner and a central midfielder.

I think there's a hope that Solomon may provide an answer to the first, and we do have numbers in relation to the second, although for me with a gap in terms of being able to play Ange's style.

Considering neither seem like emergency requirements, I doubt it's something we'll rush into this window.

Didn't WLB say a few days he had an update for the itk thread but wasn't allowed post it yet?
So maybe there's something that was brewing then but agree with you lot that I can't see anything major happening now at this stage which is fine as we addressed our two main issues early in window.
Given no one else has cash to spend it feels like a slightly missed opportunity to take advantage of that but nothing to get too upset over.

I think he was talking about Nusa not being able to be announced whilst a couple of things were tidied up with the deal.

Of course things then changed so don't think there's an additional bit of info to come.

Ah ok fair enough I didn't realise it was likely Nusa related.

With window opening on 14th June and clubs in PSR trouble needing to sort it by 30th June we could be keeping funds for then and trying to get a couple of deals then like we did we Richy and Johnson.

Solomon has to be given a chance and I actually agree that his skill set is something we are really lacking up top. My big concern with him tho is his injury issues. I pointed this out in his thread. He’s had three seasons where he’s missed over 10 games and after today it will be two consecutive seasons he would have missed 16 games with a single injury

I’ve seen a lot of people saying we should be selling Gio because of his injury record, which I can understand even if I’m still hoping he can come back and stay fit for the remainder of the season. Solomons injury record is just as concerning if not more more so. Obviously it’s way too early to write him off and we will need to see how he does but it’s certainly a situation we need to keep in mind going into next season.

You’re probably right but tbf he did say it was for the ITK thread not the Nusa thread so whilst some of it likely connected to Nusa it’s a good bet not all of it did. Ether way one would think it was prob in relation to the likes of Nusa, PEH and Gallagher so as you say nothing that needs to be said any longer.

In general i really struggle to see anything else happening. Gil will prob go as he won’t be getting more then 5/10 mins in the odd game as Ange clearly doesn’t trust him to change a game. Beyond that PEH is staying so that means no CM. The only extra addition that might occur is a young forward but my feeling is we had been working on Nusa for a very long time and once that fell through we decided to step back an reassess our other targets ahead of the summer window.

Unless a very last min opportunity falls in our lap I think we are done. But even with those I think we would have heard something by now.

Completely agree that Solomon's injuries mean he isn't someone we can currently rely on for that role, which is presumably why we were looking at Nusa for now and not just the Summer.

As for Gio, I'm fine with him staying as effectively our 6th choice midfielder, but I'd rather give that role to a younger player to be honest. Whether it's injuries or form I just don't think he cuts it for us.

Think that’s it for this window I reckon. Overall pretty pleased with it. Dragusin is a very good signing and Werner is ideal for the second half of the season and if he keeps playing like he has, I wouldn’t be shocked at all with us activating the clause.

For the summer my main 4 priorities would be in order:

- Top class 1v1 winger
- Box to box 8
- LCB (ideally one that can cover LB also)
- 18 year old Keeper (one who is excellent with the ball at his feet, who can spend a season as 3rd choice and take over backup duty from 2025).

Obvious that’s not the squad done, but they would be the ones I’d like to see us get in early.

Yep, I don't think we will see any more incomings this window.

I'm quite happy with the additions and also the departures over the last 12 months:

Additions - Rag, Johnson, Madders, Solomon, Vicario, Mickey, Detiniy, Timo, Veliz, Pedro, Kulu, Phillips.
Departures - Kane, Winks, Dier, Perisic, Sanchez, Moura, Hugo.
Plus the loans of Spence, Japh, Rodon, Tanganga, Regi.

The squad has been massively upgraded, the only real loss being Kane.

If we move Gio on I think we need to replace him with someone equally creative, we've seen in glimpses how good a player with his skillset can be, but also how important a decent rotation option is needed with Madders, if we get CL then another quality technical player is a must.

Very, very good window. The second half of the season will feel like a whole new season with Werner, Dragusin and all of our injured players back. Now for the people behind the scenes to go out and find the targets for the summer, get that business done nice and early too.

I agree.

We've made do with Deki in that role a couple of times but I don't think he's a like-for-like replacement.

But for me neither is Gio unfortunately. He's just not a Premier League player.

Delighted we got another CB in. That was the biggest thing that needed solving in what is generally a difficult window.

Werner is....Ok I guess? I think we need a top quality LW with real dribbling ability and a high ceiling but I understand that may not be possible in January. Werner at least will provide some cover at LW and ST until the summer.

In an ideal world we'd have got a quality wide player but hopefully we can go for a quality marquee player there in the summer if we make the CL.

We won't need a huge amount of signings in the summer. It needs to be a case of quality over quantity then.

I think some of the positions are a bit awkward to fill because of the HG issue, and the positions require quite specific skill sets.

I feel pretty good about where we are. It’s not unreasonable to think in a few weeks time, with some luck in terms of guys recovering from injury, returning from tournaments and keeping our healthy guys healthy, we could see this on match days:

———————— Vicario ————————
Porrro— Romero - Van De Ven - Udogie
——————— Bentancur ———————-
——- Maddison ———————— Sarr ——-
—— Kulusevski ——— Son ——— Werner

Bench Options: Forster, Dragusin, Davies, Emerson, Sessegnon, PEH, Skipp, Lo Celso, Richarlison, Solomon, Johnson, Gil, Veliz.

In that scenario, some good players are going to miss out altogether. Definitely good enough for Top 4, in my mind. I have no faith we will at any point have a fully fit squad, but on paper, it’s a good squad.

Can't remember us ever playing on the evening of the window closing, but I'm thinking if Levy is at the game then in all likelihood the window for us is closed, both incoming and outgoing.
