More than 11 that's for sure.
But that surely has to depend on the competition for places in that position as well. For that midfield three you have Rice, you have Bellingham, and then what? Gallagher might be starting to find some form, and it'll probably be Phillips or Henderson knowing Southgate but both are so off form it's not even funny. I'd have Ross Barkley in the squad personally but it's more to do with options lacking than there being a standout for that role.

Not really. It's not just about ability. As for other options Longstaff, Willock, Jones, Ward Prowse........

Cannot see Southgate playing Rice plus 2 attacking midfielders . Eg. Maddison or Foden plus Bellingham.
He is just a cautious manager. If Philips is fit and playing well, he will no doubt be in.
A further problem this summer is that the squad will be back to the normal 23 and not 26 as it has been for last two tournaments , due to covid.
The likes of Rashford and Grealish will need to pull their finger out, they are nowhere near good enough at the moment. Anthony Gordon should certainly be in there.

He’s going to pick Henderson, Phillips and Rashford isn’t he.
Two out of three.

And where have all the myriad of right backs gone? Only Walker left!

This England side is really exciting.

A front 4 with Kane, Foden, Saka and Bellingham is as good as it gets on paper.

How Henderson still gets called up is baffling, though.

For me you play that four in the big games with ... someone next to Rice. No idea who that someone is right now. But in games England should win I'd play Bellingham next to Rice and Maddison in front, which is probably too daring for Southgate no matter the opposition.
