I wonder if we will look at Summerville as a new winger. 17 goals and 8 assists this season.

In terms of strikers:

Gimenez - has been in really bad form recently. He is lumbering and has a bad touch. I really think he will flop in the prem and pray we dont go for him.

Jonathan David - works best as a second striker rather than a no.9. I would again be concerned if we go for him as I dont think he suits what we need. He also has a weird habit of playing like crap in the first half of the season and then being good for the second.

Toney - he is a twat. Bad attitude but he fits everything we need in a number 9. Annoyingly I would quite like to sign him and I dont think Arsenal or Chelsea will go for him so we could have a chance. Maybe Reguilon as part of the deal too.

Sesko - Ive championed him on here several times. Young, tall, very quick, great feet and can finish. I think he will become a superstar and should be at the top of our list.

Only others out there left would be completely unrealistic:

Osimhen - Too expensive
Isak - Too expensive
Boniface - wont leave BL and too expensive probably
Vlahovic - will sign a new deal
L Martinez - will sign a new deal
Sesko would be out of our pricerange right?

Sesko and Williams have a €50m buy out clause each

Would be extremely smart to trigger those and get them done early. £85m for the pair seems great value

Annoying the links with Chelsea and Williams getting stronger though

I’ll be rather surprised if Williams ends up at Chelsea. Personally I think he wants to go to Barca and I also don’t think he is any rush to leave. After the Copa Del Ray win he was even talking about having “many years left” at Bilbao. Obv players say all sorts of things but even so he strikes me as the type of person that will wait to get the move he wants rather than rushing out the door. Obviously Barca are strapped at the moment but I also think they will be looking to sell quite a few players this summer. Already been talk of a big money move for Raphinha to the Saudi league. We shall see of course but I don’t think it would be as simple as us slapping down the money for him.

I worry about whether David is a good enough finisher and whether he has true goalscoring instincts.

He averages 13-14 non penalty goals a season playing in Ligue 1 for a decent side too. I'd expect him to be scoring a bit more than that in all honesty.

Is he any good in the air too? I agree with your argument that we need a fox in the box type (who has good technique too) but ideally we want someone who can also pose a threat aerially even if they're not a huge target man type.
Osimhen has only scored more than 14 non penalty goals once, which was last season and he is considered a natural scorer. Osimehen scored the same amount at Lille as David did in his 1st season (David was Osimhen's replacement).

Im really surprised that you think he would be perfect in our system as he isnt a fox in the box type of striker, nor is he a lone striker. He plays much better as a second striker and likes to drop deep quite a bit to be involved in the build up. I actually think he is opposite to what you think we need in a new striker. The perfect one for us is probably Lautaro but that will never happen.
David has been playing as a lone striker for the past 2 seasons, which have been his best 2.

I agree Lautaro would be perfect on paper, however, he doesn't plat as a lone striker for Inter, he always plays in a 2 and the only times I have seen him play as a lone striker, have been for Argentina and he has been awful, but only a very small sample size.

Add Bakayoko €50m and Werner €15m and we are almost done. That's around £140m

So that would be:

- three wingers
- one striker

Feels both imbalanced and unrealistic (a significant outlay, which I'm not sure we can afford) to me

I also think another DM is important. I like Bissouma, and I think he'll come good (he's been patchy, as we know), but he needs competition and we likely need depth there, unless we take the view that Bentancur will also play 6.

I'm assuming we sell the likes of Reguillon, PEH etc. I guess if we also sell Solomon and possibly Deki and Richi, that could work

A funny yet interesting name that I saw pop up today is Nabil Bentaleb. I doubt we would move for him, however wanted to bring up due to the HG factor (similar to KWP). He's worked his way back up the football world ladder and is currently having a solid season in France at Lille, a side that has similarities to ours. Very attacking (some say almost too attacking) system put into place by Paulo Fonseca of all people.

He seems to be really finding himself in the deep 6/8 roles. As some of us may remember, his passing, dribbling still seem to be strengths, but he's showing good data and statistics in his tackling, interceptions, and recoveries. He also loves a long shot which is always a nice option against low blocks.

I know he's a bit older at 29, but I think he'd be a really fun and useful squad option and a bit more of something different in a deep laying playmaker.

EDIT: Added a clip from a match against PSG this season

Interesting. Always liked him, but surely we can’t go back.

Winks looks top in the championship, Ligue 1 whilst better isn’t hugely so. Liked both lads though, but a no from me

He seems very happy playing with his brother and you cannot blame him, so it would take something special for him to leave. But yeah, Barca seems the likely option and we all know they will find the money.
