Feels like a litmus test for our ambition. He's decent but he won't take us to the next level. If we settle it says everything about us

Not for me. Don’t take up the option, move son out left and put the £15m towards Williams. Then all out for a number 9 that the ball can stick better to.

Well im still of the same opinion that I have no idea if he’s good or shit. And that he definitely shouldn’t be signed as a starting player.
He's good in parts and bad in others. He's very quick, can run in behind, can work hard, can press, and when he wants to (usually in and around the box looking to cross) he can take a man on . In others a lot of the time he won't take his man on and looks scared to do so if he's further away from goal even if he has space to run into, his finishing a lot of the time is bad especially if he has time on the ball and if he doesn't have a good game game he's completely anonymous.

I don't know if anyone remembers but about 10 years ago (2014 or 2015) the club were linked to this raw, quick Stuttgart forward that could be a world beater if he was polished up, could score goals more regularly and maybe had a bit more belief in himself. He's still a very similar player with very similar flaws to his game, if he could score consistently and really backed himself he would be a £100m player, but he hasn't. He's like Raheem Sterling - has good bits and pieces to his game, could be really good if things come together but on average is less than the sum of his parts. They'll put in good games now and then, show glimmers of what they could do and you always hope they can take the next step to doing that regularly and become the player you know they can be but it never quite works out. He's good enough to be a squad player and for the price you could do a lot worse, but he shouldn't be the one to start next season. Either someone else or Son's moved out wide and a new striker is brought in as well as Richy

I don't know how you can sign a forward who you know for certain will miss a good 80-90% of his easy chances... Even on a free transfer that's expensive

I’ve been a supporter of Timo since he’s been here. I’ve defended him numerous times but it’s now time to concede. We had the chance to try before we buy, I say put that cash towards a striker that can actually score and move Sonny back to the left.

Such a Spurs player - amazing in some ways, but amazingly flawed in others.

I want to like him, but the nagging feeling that top clubs don't tolerate that is too much. We should try for better.

Against teams that sit back, you have to take your chances to open them up. With the way we play we are going to have more team sitting back.

Although Timo is likeable, has good pace and a great work rate, his finishing is woeful.

We don't create enough chances to be able to afford that. Score one of those two decent chances today and it'd be a different result. Both great chances and both were off target.

I'd agree he is cheap as a impact sub, but his salary isn't.

Our front 3 are a problem theat Timo doesn't solve

The top 3 teams the last 3-4 seasons LW’s have been: Mane, Sane, Grealish, Martinelli.

Werner is no where near any of those.

If we are serious about giving Ange what he needs to win us trophies then Williams level signing is a must.

Werner as a squad addition if we are in the EL would be ok but ONLY if we have a significant budget remaining for a WF, ST, CDM and 4th CB. If not then let’s not go for this and just use Solomon when he’s back from fitness as a squad option or Santiago etc and move son back left and sign Williams.

He’s shite, the most levy signing there is which means that he’ll be signed. He could have put us 1 up today but instead fluffed his lines. If we want to finish 4- 7th then by all means get him in but if we want to push on to the next level then he’s nowhere near the standard that we need

He’s not a bad player and he seems a good guy, but he’s not the answer. We’re inept up front and lack quality in the centre. If we really want to challenge we need to find better.

Attacking options next season of Son, Richarlison, Johnson, Nico Williams and Werner would be good. Werner's pace and ability to get into dangerous positions is always a threat but we really need some quality there.

We’d need more than this, would need to sign a top class striker as well if we are serious.
