These lists are obviously made to create discussion, and you can get a general idea of which players have impressed in the season simply because so many people are involved in the vote, but there are of course huge holes in this.

For example, Max Rushden admitted on the last Football Weekly that he completely forgot about Son when he put in his top 40, and I'm sure there are many similar examples where one of the voters have just simply forgotten a player, there are so many to choose from and it's not like they're ticking off a list, they have to do it from memory.

De Bruyne should've been top 10 for me, even with his injury problems in the spring.

Perhaps but let's wait and see who the top ten are.
apart from Ronaldo and Messi.
