Bowen getting into the game quickly which is exactly what you want from a substitute.

Honest question(going on his England games, don't watch Chelsea), what type of player is mount? Not a ball winner, doesn't beat players, zero creativity doesn't dictate the game. TBF seems like he has a decent shot.

Inter’s other LCB, Di Marco, also looks good. Surely they’ll be ok if they sell us Bastoni ?

Grealish has been so poor tonight. Usually the player that makes something happen but he’s either been safe and negative, or dribbled into trouble. Bowen made more of an impact in 3 minutes

Think most of his praise is due to his work without the ball. Quite clever with his pressing and energetic too. He’s neat and tidy with the ball too I guess but goal contributions a bit disappointing for a player in his position at a top 4 club.

He’s been good for Chelsea. Was their top scorer last year with 11, top in assists with 10 (both stats Prem only). He finds space well and generally finishes clinically. Comfortable on the ball, plays quick passes, one-twos, he runs beyond the striker often. I like him as a player, but he’s not flashy and he’s never gonna beat a man.

Since this is pretty much an exercise in running the rule over various players I'll ask the question, has Tomori had some sort of a stellar season at AC as I'm not seeing anything particularly special that would place him above a number of other English CB's?

I should probably revise my goal contribution assessment then. I think when I looked around Xmas - I thought his record for 21/22 was poor bar a hat trick vs Norwich. Fair play he’s had a good 2nd half of the season.

I like him but I don’t watch him and think wow I wish we had him. I would prefer Foden over him I think.

Yeah won the league and in many pundits Serie A team of the season.

Seems like everyone just looks worse for England.

Literally voted one of the CBs of the season in Italy

I think this game is a chance for Southgate to give other folks who have had a good season England minutes/ have a look at how they play in the England system in a somewhat competitive match.

Tomori is getting very good reviews at Milan, not surprising I suppose as he’s a consistent starter in the Serie A winning team who conceded the joint fewest goals. Certainly deserves a call-up and good to see him getting minutes. I doubt he’ll form part of the starting back line though.

Im also glad that the non-Prem players that have played well (Tammy, Tomori, Bellingham) are getting a look in. Hopefully we continue to see promising English players move overseas if short on minutes in the Prem.
