The race to the ER, afcon and asian cup.

Tell you what, we are in a good position to finish top 4 but unfortunately we are letting the players to these cups. Players who should give everything to the club as club is making them rich.

As bad as it sounds, and bring me the negatives, but I am afraid it is a race for top6 not top4. We are too nice as a club. Basically a honeymoon destination.
Liverpool’s best player is going fyi

We really just need to survive January.

If we're within 6 points of top 4 come February then we've got a really good chance.

But I fear we'll have to put out too many teams like last night's XI and that is what will cost us.

What hope in hell do we have of top 4 when Sonny/Romero/ Sar & Bissouma all piss off to their respective competitions in January!!

I’d give us 2, Bob and No

Ange has done a fantastic job but this season is surely another write off. Such a shame after a brilliant start that noone could have predicted

It’s definitely the hope that kills you

Romero is injured not going off to some tournament.
Top 5 will be champ lge and we will get it. Only 2 lge games before 31 Jan. Need any easy cup draw if we get past Burnley.
31 Jan is home to Brentford when Micky and Romero should be back. Poss Solomon as well.
Maddison ..probably not.

The performance rally at the end at least shows the players still believe and still fight for each other. We're not winning the league (no one could with this many hits) but I'm pretty confident we're better than enough teams to finish 4th or so. Hoping for a cup run too.

I agree but i also feel it shows a lack of mental strength, that they can only play when the pressure and expectation are off.
I feel there was a lot of pressure on the players with the chance to move 3rd and that might of played a part in it. Happened a lot last season only started playing when match looked lost.
Hopefully when we have our strong 1st team players back i think it will change. Maddison, Romero, VdV and Bentacur are strong mentally and are winners.

Re the cup run we are going to be very, very depleted for that Burnley match, and with our luck we'll get drawn away against a Prem team in the 4th round even if we do scrape through. I'm not hopeful for too much of a run.

Its this Sunday and United away weve to get through.

We'll have a few back for Brentford. Think we'll smash them with Romero and VDV back.

The platform they provide, for the way we play, is simply massive.

It is not our decision to let anybody go to any international comp. If they are selected, they go. If we stop them then the players are suspended till end of comp.
Buy African and Asian players. Take the consequences.

Why the f would they be suspended from playing in PL if they cant go to cup? Are you serious, what am I missing?

Also, it's not about stopping them but explaining to them that club that feeds them is in a very difficult situation and needs them. And then its up to them to decide. Its basically a situation in which club legends are made.

Yes I am speaking of Son here. We need our captain and best player here and now, it is a unique situation.

But as said, wont happen though..

If clubs refuse to release players for international duty, their nations can apply to FIFA to suspend the players from club football.

That isn’t really fair on the players either though. Yes it’s annoying that their countries representative tournaments happen mid season, but there are reasons for that.

You can’t turn around and guilt trip players who are proud to represent their country into thinking they’re doing the wrong thing by going and doing something they’ve probably wanted to do since they first become footballers. They’ve every right to play in their international tournaments as our other players have to play in the euros and the World Cup.

It is very frustrating that they go mid season, but at the same time, it’s their right to go and they should be able to win things internationally that mean a lot to them.

As said above, buying African and Asian players means you have to be aware when the tournaments are held and plan accordingly, this time round it just happens to have coincided with one of the worst spells of injuries I can ever remember us having, still doesn’t mean they should miss out or feel guilty for going.

Never in a million years could you stop Son from playing for his country. It is very important for him.
Dont think you realise the standing he has in his country.
He would just get on a plane and go. Same as Romero did.

Spawny Villa. 10 man Burnley get back to 2-2. Villa get last min pen and score. Even Dean Smith, ex manager and Villa fan disputes the award.
Villa certainly wobbling a bit with the pressure on.

Ange has worked miracles so far and exceeded my expectations, and I was among the more positive before the season started I think. There are limits though. The squad was never getting sorted in just one window and we needed a huge amount of luck to get through the season. We've had none which is a pity.

But I think Europa is well within our grasp, and if we manage to avoid a Jan like November then you never know for top 4.

All in all, back in Europe of some sort would be fantastic for the first season in what we all knew would be a rebuild that would take several windows.

It could also damage our reputation with the whole nation of S Korea, who as we know are responsible for bringing millions into the club. We'd like that to continue long after Sonny has retired too.

Dragusin (CB)
Gallagher (CM)
Jota (AM)

In Jan and we are back in the title race imo.

But doubt we’d sign all 3, probably just a CB and well then try to scrape 4th/5th.

Would be refreshing if we signed a CB, CM and AM this Jan and the CB and AM both in the first week, that would be the dream window.

Lets see if lessons have been learnt from previous times under the bald eagle.
