I have seen some PL predictions from journos, rival fans , youtubers....

I have not seen one who give us a realistic chance of finishing in top6...even if there is a chance of Kane staying.

Some of them dont have us in top8.

We had no manager since Jan, we still outscored United by 12 goals, Newcastle won just 1 game more than us....But now, people think we are so out of touch with all these teams.

Looking at our preseason , I keep thinking we will do well (with 1 game a week) , especially if we keep Kane....Am I insane to think this way or rival fans are being too stupid to ignore us ?

I think it's very easy for rival fans/pundits to revert back to this idea that Tottenham is a mid table club despite the fact we've finished top 4 in five of the last eight seasons and had a couple of strong title challenging seasons recently.

Similarly after one good season, Arsenal are considered definite title challengers and it's almost forgotten that in the six seasons before that they failed to finish in the top 4 once.

Shame but that seems to be how other fans/pundits see the two clubs. Anything different is over/underachieving from their norm.

Ok, im going to say it!

With few injuries and good back ups and no Europe. Why can’t we challenge for the PL? I think across the front and midfield we are either tied the best or the best in PL. don’t forget we also have bentancur coming back as well. I know our defense is a bit leaky but I can see us scoring a lot of goals if we keep Kane. I just think we could really be dark horses for the title. Romero is a World Cup winner, and now he has a solid partner as well.

Bentancur, Maddison, Bissouma, Son, Kane, Kulusevski, Richarlison

Arsenal have
Rice, Partey (injury prone), Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli, Havertz, Jesus

City have
De Bruyne, Rodri, Grealish, Foden, silvia Haarland, Alvarez

I just think all round we have the better balance and we don’t have Europe to contend with. This is the most excited I’ve been for a long, long time.
Love the positivity. All fair points you make too, but for me we are still at the start of our project. We’ve a new manager and a new system to bed in. No midweek football will help that, but there will be bumps along the way and I doubt we will have the consistency to really challenge for the league.

There’s also huge question marks over our defence for the time being.

Lets not go overboard.
We have a lot of new players, new system - it all takes time to click.

PL is going to be very competitive. Our team needs to show they have improved defensively, able to see games off etc. These 2 are a process - it takes time to do it

IMO, if Kane stays, top6 is the minimum we should aim for and we can do it. Top4 is within our grasp if we fine tune the defense well. PL title is a pipe dream which isnt for us this season

But these players do already have a really good rapport with each other, which is a plus. Kane and Maddison for England, Son and Kane the best duo in the history of the PL, and kulu does also gel well with them. When it comes to balance and experience I think we have the best mid and attack. Bentancur will be huge as well.

defense is where we are the weakest, but I’ll be interested to see how Romero gets on with VDV.

Without Defense, title is impossible. Only good defense win titles.
For that to happen in 1st season under Ange is just impossible

6-8th with or without Kane.

We're changing our whole style of play and bedding in new players or players that Conte previously held back.

Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United will probably be the top four in some order.

I don't think Poch will be able to turn Chelsea around completely in one season but they'll be better than they were.

I think we are going to have a couple of very good runs of form early to early-ish in the season which will see us in and around first place; but towards the middle of the season we will perform inconsistently, then pick up some form (but not as much as early on) going into the end quarter.

Added to that I think the league is going to be one of the hardest this season since the PL was formed. For that reason, and given everything that has happened in the last few years, the new manager, and our bloated squad, I think 6th-8th is as expected, 4th-5th is massively overachieving to overachieving, and 1st-3rd is unattainable.

I agree with the comments that we are the biggest unknowns.
Most of our starters and first choice subs have been bought in within the last couple of seasons and are relatively young.
Throw in a new manager and system and I think we can come anywhere between 2nd and 6th.

But as we're coming to the end of the re-build I'd take 6th but playing entertaining football and moving in the right direction.
I like this 😊

PS: I’m not trying to be funny.
A lot will depend on how we start off the first few games.

We could really end up anywhere from about 7th up to 2nd this season imo.

Arsenal went from 5th and mikes off it to 2nd, we hugely hugely underperformed last season for a multitude of reasons and now we have signed a new GK, CB, Maddison, Solomon and have Udogie, Lo Celso, Bissouma who are all looking like new signings, Son has no more injury all season and we are looking to sign another top CB.

Keep Kane and/or get 3 top top players to replace Kane and if we build up some early momentum I think there is a tiny tiny outside chance we could without Europe get into a title race but more likely we will be a bit up and down and get caught on the break a bit too much and end up maybe around 4-6th having played nice football, built the 1st step of the Ange project and maybe had a good run in one of the cups but I like your optimism, to dare is to do.

8th pretty much the max for this season. It'll be like early Arteta seasons. The belief that we're trying to even compete with top teams will depart the squad with Kane. Players aren't stupid, they'll see that every other top six club is signing £100m players and we're selling over greatest ever one, and they'll feel even more like underdogs when we play them. Other smaller teams will fancy playing us more.

I love Ange, the but the whole psychology of the club that was pretty messed up due to Levy's loser vibes will take a while to rebuild if he gets the chance.

I would be satisfied if we finish in the top 1/2 of the table.
I hope we can finish top 8 but feel it is unrealistic.
We will be losing our star player, have question marks over the other (Son), and have to adapt to a new style of player with only 1 proven CB (Romero).
It's a tall order for any club to bridge, including the ones that are more keen on us to spend big.

I think we will be better in the second half of the season, so will need to be supportive and patient.

Until we at least drop a point, I'm assuming we'll win every game we play. Why wouldn't you?

I'm mostly guided by my perception of the team's ability relative to its competitors.
I don't feel optimistic playing against Brentford, and they are already without Toney.
Therefore it's hard for me to be optimistic like you.

I think in all honesty midtable finish. There is optimism with the new manager but he has never managed in the premier league or even a competitive premier league game yet so i’m tempering my expectations and not getting carried away.

We still have many of the players that have tanked under multiple managers now as well, for sure the football methods being offered up by said managers was poor but i’m not completely sure it’s ALL on the previous managers.

Post Kane world we are in for a rude awakening, people say we will
miss his goals, he was also the best passer at the club and added a ton of assists.

With all that said Maddison is a step in the right direction, he should have been at Spurs sooner.

I think 8th would be a good achievement which makes me realize how I was sold a lie about the new stadium being our launch pad. Gutted. Hopefully we’ll be back amongst it in a few years.
