According to the BBC website anyway

Togo claim Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor, 28, has changed his mind and will represent the country at the Africa Cup of Nations. Head of the Togo Football Federation, Ameyi Gabriel, is reported to have told Radio Algeria International: "We will be together in South Africa. It is very important to have him [Adebayor] there because he is our player and captain of the team." Guess we'd better sign a bloody striker then!

The only reason people want him to go is so Levy will be pressured into getting a striker lol.

Another Striker is a must regardless if Ade goes or not but a panic buy striker isnt what we need so its a big name or no one for me. Clint can do the job.

Definately a big month for Levy - ive heard for several transfer windows how we are after a huge name but more often than not it hasnt materialised. Yet here we are again at the start of a window with Leandro and Moutinho being spoken about by the ITKs. If they are right and Levy is as ambitious as we hope then I am sure he will go out and buy a top striker this window. If we dont then I think we know that many of the rumours we here are just that. That said, I am happy with how Levy runs the club and wouldnt want him to put our future at risk by buying a player that is too expensive.

OK if we must - But will he get a game come February?

I dunno mate, There is defoe, kane, and coulibaly. So competition will be fierce. Falcao might struggle to get a look in, and we all know how AVB handles star names after brad/lloris :D

Disappointed with the big man this season, I hope he brings some form and fire in his belly back from Africa.

Like most, I'm not surprised, providing of course that the head of the Toga football federation isn't talking out of his backside

We have been trying to buy a good striker in general and Damio in particular for about two years now. There doesn't seem to be anyone good to buy who we could afford.
We will miss Adebayor as an option but he has been bloody useless. Wouldn't be surprised if that was it for him now and he won't play for us after the ACN and be shipped out in the summer- if anyone will have him- wasn't any competition for him this summer.

What I'm really chuffed about is how the club have handled this. Everything we've seen has been positive about Ade going, recognising that the honour of representing ones country in a major continental championship and definitely not putting pressure on him to stay.

I'll always remember when Kanoute declared for Mali, Pleat (who I generally think gets an unfairly hard time on here) made a big stink about him leaving for the ACN. Trying to stop a player leaving for internationals seems to me a surefire way of causing disgruntlement.

So, Ade leaving isn't great given out lack of options up front. But better we let him leave with good grace than end up hacking him off by trying to convince him to stay.

As we get better and better we'll probably be playing on the break less so maybe a lack of pace won't hurt too much if Dempsey has to lead the line. Bale and Lennon can provide that and he can just make sure he's getting in the right positions and tucking it away

This is a disaster. We didn't win any games when he was out the team.

Could make things tricky. We'll be left with only Defoe, Deuce, and Leandro.

Did not Kanoute get sold for going to the ACN when we were short of strikers?
