Go on then, reel off a list of Spurs players with more footballing ability than Adel.

Too much of a pain in the arse to type a long post on my phone, but just keeping it to midfield:

Modric
Huddlestone
Bale
Kranjcar

all have at least as much natural ability as AT and are better players in a team.

Lennon doesn't have quite as much natural ability as Adel but is a far, far better player.

Its like you guys have dumped a gf you had who was really hot, i mean when she did herself up she was proper hot, but most of the time she was whiny and annoying and sat around in jogging bottoms being a bit scummy, you lost patience and dumped her, as you should have.

Now she's got a new bloke, a bloke who's not as awesome as you but cos he pays more attention to her she does herself up a bit more often, and you keep seeing her around and you get a bit jealous and forget how crap she was at being a gf.

And she was french, let it go.

I'll have to add to this.

Football is not just about technical skills, the quality of a footballer is also based on physical (pace, strength, stamina, agility) and mental attributes (work rate, determination, anticipation, positioning etc).

For as good as Bale is, we know that his physical traits such as his raw pace, stamina, power and strength underpin the rest of his talents. If he didnt have those abilities we would have another Kranjcar (and that no slight on the man).

Woodgate is renowned as a being a quality centre back. Its his mental traits that stand him above many others. Anticipating the pass, positioning, composure and calmness, team play, discipline. He's not the quickest or the most skilful though. Still a bloody good defender.

In that respect Taarabt does not have the footballing "natural ability" of nearly half our squad although I'd accept he may have the technical skills that are better than many.

It was Edgar Davids who once said: "The mark of a player with great ability is one who knows their talents and limitations and does what he's good at for the team."

Lock it. He has gone and he was a pony (with one trick - the step over)
Have a look at the pass he played today with the outside of his right foot, that led to their goal, after watching it come back and tell me his a one trick pony.

It's just a tag used by the ill-informed. Just like Gomes is a clown, Lennon can't cross etc etc. Players can't possibly improve

Fraud of a footballer btw.

Taarabt that is, not Scat.

For us maybe, but he made a decent career for himself- got QPR promoted and won Football League player of the year, reinvented himself as a central midfielder at Benfica and won a couple of trophies including a league title, and also played for AC Milan!

:D we have had a few of this crazy type over the years for sure.

He was another that was just too young and raw when we saw him at Spurs. He was on a podcast with Rio Ferdinand recently talking about coming from a poor family and the big money move to us being difficult and perhaps coming too early (I'm majorly paraphrasing). He made a solid career later on and won a league title with Milan and also got to play with Messi at Barca.
