Couple of reports out there about this guy who is a left back.

Tottenham have paltry €3m first offer for La Liga defender turned down
  • Oh Tottenham, you and your ridiculously low offers for football players!
If today's edition of Spanish newspaper AS is to be believed, and it would be an odd story to make up, Tottenham have had a first offer rejected for Real Sociedad defender Alberto de la Bella. That's probably because the amount they are said to have offered is just €3m, or £2.5m.

Real Sociedad had an excellent season and came fourth in La Liga, which gets them into Champions League qualifying. the defender started 36 La Ligafor the Spanish club so is certainly their first choice and the offer just appears to be ridiculously low for the 27 year old.

Alberto de la Bella, who has represented the Catalonia national side, can also play further up the pitch and would be an interesting addition to Tottenham's squad

. AS claim that other offers have been coming in too, so if Andre Villas Boas really wants him then Tottenham will need to return soon with an improved offer.

He has two years left on his current contract so it's not as though Real Sociedad are under pressure to sell right now, his value may drop if he doesn't renew over the next season but it's hardly likely to go below £2.5m and it just doesn't seem conceivable that the club would consider letting him go for anything like that.

They'll be confident of getting into theChampions League group stage and that brings serious income. Even if they were short of money, and Spanish football is in a permanent struggle with debts, then the offer would still be too low because the club would probably have to pay similar to replace him.

This one has come from nowhere and it's not a particularly exciting transfer rumour, which would make it odd if it's from thin air. However, there's always the possibility that theplayer's agent is briefing the press in order to get his name into the rumour mill and get him a move or a contract extension but suggesting that a Premier League team valued him at such a low price probably wouldn't help with promoting him.

Not sure if this is linked, but my mate heard rumours we were going to announce Damaio, Paulinho and Alvaro Pereirra early next week. He personally is not someone I'd call ITK, and didn't say where he'd heard, I didn't ask because I don't think it's any more than rumour/guesswork he's heard somewhere.
But, the key point here being, Pereirra is obviously a LB, and now this guy, so should we read into that, one of Ekotto or Rose are off?
Personally, if a LB is incoming, I would think Ekotto will make way. Had a in and out season, and at 29 is this the last chance for both parties to cash in on a move. Rose will/could then stay, providing greater cover with his ability to play LM aswell as LB, plus filling one of the home grown spots.

Another good looking defender for us. Would make it easier for me to convince my girlfriend to join me on my Premier League trips. Sign him.

If we were going to get a Spanish left back, I'd rather Alberto Moreno at Sevilla. He is going to be very good IMO

His mother must be beautiful since "de la Bella" means, basically, "from a beautiful [woman]". Oh, ok, not funny but I couldn't hold myself.

His agent speaking to Spanish media

This morning of Tuesday 25 representative Alberto De la Bella, Jose Rodriguez, announced that Catalan is being wooed by several teams in the Premier League. It is surprising since the player's season has been excellent with 36 games and 3 goals.
"Several clubs were interested. Or at least have been several who have called us for some values in which we move, "
The agent himself mentions that none of the proposals by De la Bella approach benefits the Real Soceidad, has the 30 million euros of its clause. "It has to be something very good for all parties to be able to go and so we did know. To this day there is nothing consistent enough to Alberto, effective opportunities to leave Real 'he added.
The player and his agent are aware that the club is looking to sign on-loan Roma left back Jose Angel, who has not had many minutes but still thinking about signing him.

I've seen Perreira play a few times, he's not very good IMHO. Just keep Rose and BAE at LB if Pereira is all Spurs can come up with...
:mask:

...still eagerly awaiting Paulinho at The Lane though :ninja:

Last January, when Spurs were linked to Alvaro Pereira, I saw some links to Inter sites where fans expressed their intense desire...to get rid of him. He was apparently shocking poor in defense etc etc. Doubt Spurs are keen oh him.
Btw, Doria can also play LB (not sure if he's a Vertonghen type who's more as an emergency LB).

This one came out of the blue
Cover for Benny, Rose for sale (n)
Think Benny may be the one to go, Rose will fight for a place with a new LB methinks.

Always liked Ekotto, he's been the best LB I've seen at the Lane, just feel that AVB doesn't rate him too highly.
