Chelsea will certainly do what's best for Chelsea, but part of what's best for Chelsea is also trying to ensure that no potential rivals can build anything that might threaten them. It's like the Bayern Munich model - when they take players off e.g. Dortmund, they're not just strengthening their own team, they're also weakening a potential rival. Win-win.
A bit off topic, but I do think clubs like Bayern and PSG would do better in Europe if their domestic leagues were more competitive.

Sorry for putting it in this thread but, as someone who is out of the loop compared to others in here, what has happened to De Ligt? I know he hasn't had the best time at Juve but I'm sure we were being linked heavily again a few months ago. Would he not be under consideration as an alternative CB?

I agree on PSG, but Bayern have six European titles, at least one runner-up (ugh), and a Europa cup.

He's a really good player still. Would cost significantly more than Bastoni. Don't think Juve would sell anyways.

He would turn up at Hotspur Way, bump into Moura and collapse

Nice one mate. As I say, haven't watched much football outside of Spurs recently so it's great to hear the opinions of others on these players. I was under the impression he had bombed at Juve but he's obviously turned things around.

Not a very good source but I did hear about Milan being interested in Bremer, could force Inter's hand

Let’s hope he makes the right choice and comes here then. Can understand it’s a big decision for a young lad with a young family though.

Uh oh using past tense, welp if we get him great, if not move onto the next don’t get sucked into trying to get him when they won’t sell
I feel like O'Keefe was mainly using past tense to refer to something he said previously. Most likely he just doesn't have any update. I wouldn't read too much into it.

I also noticed the past tense, but just wrote it off as because he answering a question about something he had already said but things can change very quickly

Also worth noting that he responded to someone just after midnight that we were still trying for him

My only concern with this is that our pricier purchases tend not to work out too well! Ndombele, Soldado, Paulinho and even Sanchez to a certain extent...

Other than that, he certainly seems to fit the bill.

I would have more faith in Conte and Paratici than AVB, Baldini, Poch, Hitchen etc.
