Would Devine actually tell his mate that signing for us is a good idea? Both are highly regarded but Scott has kicked on precisely because he's been given the first team opportunities that Devine hasn't.

I've not seen enough of him to know if we should sign him or not, but I don't think him being mates with Devine is as big a pull as it might be. Hopefully Ange reintegrates the youth properly and we see some minutes for Alfie and others this season.
Scott plays for a mid to lower level Championship side. Devine is trying to breakthrough into a top level Premier League side. That’s such a silly and unrealistic comparison.

Someone enlighten me please. In what way is Alex Scott a significant improvement over the very promising Dane Scarlett?

Portsmouth have been playing him more as an advanced playmaker than an out-and-out forward, which is why I made the comment.
When he has played it’s been on left of the front 3. He didn’t have a great last few months at Pompey

Just saw a report that Devine, Parrott and Scarlett could all be travelling with the first team for the tour.
Gives them a chance to impress Ange, so it does look as though he's willing to look at the kids and hopefully use them if they're ready (although I personally think only Devine is possibly ready out of the three).

Parrott isn't good enough imo. The other two have a chance although I'd rather both see significant game time on loan.

Yeah, I don't think Parrott has got it and Scarlett needs a good loan this season.
I wouldn't be against keeping Devine around but only if he's going to get minutes, otherwise he needs a loan too.

Hopefully, we're looking to properly utilise the academy now, signing Moore was a good sign and there's some decent talent in the younger groups, it'll be a crying shame if we don't use it right.

It's imperative that we keep up the good work that Paratici started.

Scott is more a grealish type player that’s the closest person I can think of in terms of style. Scarlett struggled in league 1 on loan….

Scarlett isn't the only young striker to struggle on loan. 😁
It's not always good to judge players like him on how many goals they score, it's more about what he's learning while he's there and the minutes he's getting.

Yeah it’s the fact he was dropped towards the end of the season that’s my worry

If I had to compare his style of play to anyone it would be Gascoigne. I'm not sure I can think of too many others that like to dribble through the midfield like he does.

That’s fair. Didn’t grealish start through the middle at villa in the championship? His dribbling reminds me a lot of grealish

Can't remember. Scott is pretty direct in his running though likes to go through people rather than past them if you know what I mean. Grealish is a bit more measured where as Scott is totally instinct imo.

When people compare Devine and Scott they should consider that Devine is a year younger playing in the same England U20 team. Scott is a great talent but Devine really is equally as promising in my opinion. Different kinds of player, Scott plays a bit deeper and is quality on the ball, carries it well and has very very good awareness when he’s receiving the ball, I think he’ll turn into a really good 8 and Devine is more of a 10 or wide attacking midfielder who excels more in finding space and making things happen around the box, makes good runs off the ball and has very good passing and ball striking technique, his style of play technically I find even more pleasing on the eye than Scott personally, he’s so so smooth technically, nothing is rugged, his touch and dribbling are very close as well as his passing being always with purpose, it’s very crisp/quick. Would love to see a team in the future with both. I think a ball playing DM, Scott as an 8 and Devine as a 10 would be a treat to watch

A bit of Jack Wiltshire about him too (although hopefully not a knob like Jack).
