Tottenham alerted as Corinthians confirm plan to sell Alexandre Pato

Tottenham have been given a boost in the hunt for Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato after the Brazilian club confirmed they could sell the striker in January.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is a big fan of former AC Milan man Pato, having tried to sign him in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old revealed he rejected the switch in an interview this week, but after a fall out with the Corinthians coaching staff, a move could be on the cards.

Pato was branded ‘a spoilt child’ by Corinthians manager Tite following a row in training, and now club director Roberto de Andrade admits the striker could be sold in the new year.

‘We know there is interest in Pato and we don’t rule out selling him in the winter transfer market,’ said De Andrade.

It’s thought Tottenham’s summer bid for Pato was around £18million, but they’d hope to be able to land him for less than that in January.

Spurs are on the lookout for a new striker with Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe looking increasingly likely to depart the club in the coming weeks.

I really like Pato. There's so much talent there. I'd be very happy with this depending on the fee.

I look forward to seeing him falling out with AVB, and vanishing off the face of the Earth to the detriment of our club.

Has a sad inevitability about it.

Pato seems to have a bit of an attitude problem, and AVB doesn't seem very good at coping with difficult personalities. Seems like it would be a pointless signing. Maybe Pato should just cut out the middle man and go straight to QPR.

He isn't good enought for spurs at the moment. His goals stats arent the greatest and there is far better strikers in brazil we can go for instead of pato who regressed alot.

He doesn't always/often play CF though.

Surely a better option than Siggy or Chadli on the left for us? Some pace, trickery and creativity, as well as goals?

As pointed out, Andre doesn't seem to be good at dealing with people with attiude problems. His grudges seem to stick too deep and he seem to lack the maturity to be able to deal with such attitudes.
I am not saying he should go, as I was an supporter of his appointment, but I am a bit disappointed about his seemingly lack of skills in dealing with players throwing tantrums.

did he ever live up to the hype when at Milan? always thought he flattered to deceive... although didnt he suffer quite heavily with knee problems? ... if thats the case, should fit right in.. we love a player with a dodgy knee...

Whereas Harry on the other hand... on no wait a minute, well Jol never fell out with anyo..... oh not wait, hold on we'll get to one soon.

All managers have problems with people with attitude problems, especially if it affects the rest of the team.

It's another bullshit stick that people are attempting to bash AVB with, for some reason.

51 goals in 117 games is a pretty sweet return for a player that isn't an proper No.9, add to that the 10 he's scored for Brazil in 27 and his career can be called successful up until now.

He's not turned into the next Pele, or whatever, but he's nonetheless a very accomplished international and CL level footballer.

A player like douglas costa or bernard wouldve been great for trickery and creativity..esp douglas costa who loves to run at places and would give alot of fefenders hard time. I just don't know of pato body can handle playing in fast epl

I think managers will always have issues with some players that aren't getting game time but there's a bit of difference between players that are unhappy not playing and players that can be difficult in terms of attitude, following orders etc., Harry for example managed to get a great season out of Ade whereas AVB hasn't had the same success. Now in part Harry seemed to be a much freer coach-a go out and play your game rather one who would give detailed plans of the opposition where a player should be, who he should be marking etc. Clearly a player who doesn't like or understand technical instructions will struggle to get on with the coach, but better man managers, maybe more experienced managers can work on that, I don't think AVB has the man management skills or the experience yet. Of course Harry and Jol had a few players that they didn't get on with, Gio for example got on well with all the managers he played for on loan and is doing well in La Liga now, but Harry seemingly never got on well with him or tried to develop him, however I don't think suggesting AVB close to Harry in man management is any kind of stick to beat him with, it looks like he does struggle with that aspect and he will undoubtedly lack the experience of someone who has years more experience as a manager and has played football at professional level. Experience teaches certain skills, if you don't have experience then you have to learn them and develop them over time

I'd say ou squad is more united/has a better team spirit than any I can ever remember. AVB may have choosen to exclude BAE and Ade for whatever reason, but the rest of the squad seem very on board with him.
