No, you were only talking about Townsend, but in response to my points discussing how disproportionate the finger-pointing towards him was in relation to other issues. So from the very beginning, the conversation was not only referring to Townsend.

But that is good you acknowledge the problems elsewhere. But again, my point here is pointing out why I'm not sure why Townsend is receiving the frustration from this game. He didn't play nearly as much as other players who are tasked with more responsibility of game influence, yet he receives the vitriol. How the hell is he supposed to develop under such conditions at the stadiums?

I admire you're enthusiasm, and I don't blame Townsend for today's loss, but I said last year, I thought his best offensive move was to carry the ball into the box trying to draw a penalty. He can't really do much effectively in this offense, and I have really not seen any improvement in him at all over the last year.

You're quite right, Liverpool were the better side and there were several poor performances, but Andros has been really poor in both Europa games this season and also again today.

Also, not sure I agree that Lamela was worse today..... but the big difference between the two is that Lamela is trying to bring other players into the game whereas Andros goes off and does his own thing. I think thats why people get wound up by him.

We all like to see wingers take on their man, but he really hasn't looked good lately, indeed he hasn't looked good since he crashed over the advertising hoardings last season. It could be an imposter appeared from behind the hoardings!
