Is there a site or medai outlet out there that isn't using our club as the focus of their April Fools bullshit? Check this one out - http://tottenhamlive.com/news/1173-east-european-consortium-spurs-takeover-.html

Reports in Romanian media claim that Steaua Bucharest owner, George ‘Gigi’ Becali, is ready to launch a takeover bid for our beloved Spurs.

Becali, who was quoted to have said “I'm not a slave to anybody” in relation to the transfer of Vlad Chiricheș to ourselves in the summer, is understood to have been in contact with his legal team; asking them to begin the formalities of a takeover.

Dark Days Are Over
In an attempt to instantly win over the fans, if his takeover is successful, Becali aims to; abolish our StubHub partnership, provide fan-support regarding the ‘Y-word’, consistently invest cash into the team, whilst reversing the notion that we are a selling club.

Sources close to the controversial politician and businessman, believe that Becali will address the fan’s concern of 10 managers in 13 years by offering Romanian and Galatasaray legend, Gheorghe Hagi, a 6 year contract.

Romanian Revolution
With a Romanian already at Spurs, in the presence of Vlad Chiricheș, reporters were quick to quiz to our number 6 on his opinion of the potential takeover.

With Chiricheș agent being Becali’s brother, it is widely accepted that Vlad has a close relationship with the Becali family.

Chiricheș told Romanian Football Channel ‘Sport Klub’ – “He (Becali) would be great fit here at Spurs. He always wants to be the best and hates loosing. His passion and desire will only help us progress as a football club”.

Waiting for the Eastern Invasion
Before Spurs fans can reach ecstasy levels regarding Gig Becali becoming the new Spurs’ Chairman and ousting ENIC, it is understood that there are a number of stumbling blocks that could see the deal dragged out until the summer.

The main concern for Spurs fans will be the fact that Becali was sentenced to 3 years in prison on May 20th 2013, after costing the Romanian State 892,758 USD worth of damage with illegal land trade.

Although Becali and his business partner (his prison-cell neighbour) are confident of completing the takeover, it is speculated that their limited access to the internet and Wi-Fi, which currently stands at one hour a day in prison, may hinder the Romanian keeping up to date with proceedings.

Closer to home, it is understood that Daniel Levy has refused to comment upon this story, but the same could not be said for current manager Tim Sherwood.

When pushed for an answer regarding Becali’s takeover, and rumours of him being replaced by Gheorghe Hagi, Sherwood eventually told Setanta Sports News – “I believe I’m the right man to fix the Tottenham washing machine, but this news doesn’t surprise me. These bloody Romanians, they’re all coming over here, stealing our jobs.”

April fools jokes are supposed to be daft. This just sounds like a poorly constructed legitimate tabloid piece.

You know what? I had exactly the same thought and, without doing a double check and re-reading this part

We should merge the two teams too and become Arsenal Hotspur

Maybe someone could start a petition?
