My guess is that Sociedad is at the same place in the transfer deal as us - agreed a price with the club, but up to player to decide where to move.

If he wants to get in the Spain squad for the euros then he might prefer to stay in Spain where he will be watched more often?

According to GB the Spanish journalist. Sorry cannot spell his name correctly, he is off to La Liga club for 16m claiming both us and pool were never really serious about him.

My guess is he wants to go back to the club he was at from a kid. Playing in a league he knows and at team he was successful at.
He'd probably have gone abroad but my guess is he wasn't at all interested in a club not in the CL.

We've also been told by ITK that Poch loves the player, can't see us having no interest or no serious interest at this stage.

Lets get our business done early he said (Levy). What a joke! Can't see anyone of the targets coming in, and we will end with makeshifts again, and look to be offloading circa next summer. Rinse, repeat. Can't get Berahino over the line, can't find a DM, can't get rid of Ade/Lennon or Townsend and then we buy Trippier with no games played yet, Wimmer who probably will turn out for us once in a blue moon, and then we smash out 12m on N'gie who has done what exactly? Could turn out to be another Townsend with just pace and sod all else. Love how our club addresses the issues. Wonder how many we will score if Kane get's injured?

He also said that we would skip this summers preseason travelling (we originally only had plans to go to Asia/Austrlia), since Poch preferred to work on the team that way. We then proceed to go to Asia/australia, USA and a preseason tourney in Germany a few days before our season started.

Point is Levy gladly lie if it's some money in it.

Amazing how much hated people have for a journalist/media person.

So he doesn't have a perfect record, who does?

This player choosing to go back to his former club is perfectly reasonable.

It's nothing to do with him not having a perfect record, it's to do with him having an absolutely dreadful record which suggests that he makes things up to appear relevant. I have lost count of the number of times he has confidently said a deal will definitely happen (or sometimes even has already happened) only to be proven wrong. One of the most memorable ones was him talking about Torres during his Atletico days, and just casually dropping in the fact that 'as everyone knows, he has signed for Barcelona and will be joining in the summer' which was just complete nonsense.

At best he has terrible sources and should keep his mouth shut, at worst he's just a self-publicising liar.

This doesn't mean Illarramendi definitely WON'T sign for Sociedad of course, but of all the 'legitimate' sources around, Ballague is perhaps the least worth paying attention to, along with the BBC's Ian McGarry.

Oh for fuck's sake.

Same fucking shit as the Njie thread, maybe I just need to put the bellends who go and meltdown when absolutely anyone writes anything on ignore. I keep thinking their numbers are bound to dwindle with how much bleach is drank each time, but no it actually seems like the numbers grow. Like a bunch of miserable schadenfreude jerkoff gremlins.

Agree.

The ITK seems confident on this. He hasn't gone there yet and I don't think it's the most reliable of sources reporting it. I think it's clearly misinformed if it says we were never interested.

I'll wait until it's official before I get concerned.

If he wants to stay in Spain no amount of money could have him nice to see a player not chasing the dollar!

Agreed.

I mean the damn Njie thread had quotes, fucking quotes, from the Lyon chairman saying the deal was off and then voila, two hours later he's announced as our player.

This time an idiot with a track record of being moronically wrong retweets something and everyone loses their damn mind.

It really makes me wonder how gullible these posters are in real life though.

Do they? Surely they just said we were an option for him and he might come if he doesn't get a better offer. Not exactly a certainty is it?
