Bissouma and Romero the axis of hesitation. They were doing this shit v Liverpool at home. There’s literally nothing to gain from slowing us down.
They have to hold if no one is open and or being marked.

Frustrating how much of the ball we seem to have in the first half of games, and how little we create.

Seems to be the same story game after game. Hoping we can increase the intensity in the second half, a goal for us might bring them out a little bit.

Disagree with this completely. I don’t think we look incredible, but terrible was last year when we were 4-0 down to Newcastle. They’ve been fine, if not a little toothless up front (but we know that needs sorting)

idk I think Van de Ven is bailing us out massively, without him we absolutely concede a couple goals on the break

Frustrating. Villa have been shit, the crowd’s dead. We just need to up our pace and stop giving the ball away in stupid areas. The only danger that half was us being sloppy and giving them the ball. Back 5 fine (apart from a couple of shit passes from Romero), Johnson good, the rest need to wake themselves up. It’s completely there for us if we can start playing

To be honest I'd rather the match be like this than how I thought it may have been. The crowd have been completely silenced, and the occasion looks like it's gotten to Villa a bit really.

We certainly need to up it, but at least we're not on the receiving end of a Villa at home versus City/Arsenal type performance.

Just the lack of match defining quality out wide IMO.

Could be famous last words but Villa feel like first half team and we seem to perform better in the second. 0-0 at half time maybe isn’t a bad result. Just wish we’d start games with more intent.

I think we've looked pretty good, without a cutting edge. Unfortunately I could see one of our guys making a mistake that leads to a goal, and that being the decider. But there's a lot of positives. Johnson, udogie and VDV have been really good.

I assume we have an agreement with Villa not to play the ball in behind their extremely high line to any of our quick forwards?

Quite happy with 0-0 away from home against a top 4 rival at half time!

Lets go for it second half!

Almost sounds silly but I think I've started tuning out a bit whenever we have the ball.

Think I'm getting into the habit of picking up my phone or putting the kettle on whenever we get the ball.

Another 45 minutes of 70% possession and one shot (that wasn't really a shot, Johnson was clearly trying to cross it).

We seem to be the most boring possession based side since Luis enriques Spain.

Maddison is definitely working in tighter spaces compared to earlier in the season.

That's when the other midfielders need to step up cause they can take players out of the game.

Bidsouna isn't really taking that second line out like he was earlier in the season. Whether that's cause he isn't playing as effectively or cause the opposition have adapted.

Also need our wingers to beat their full backs and create space for underlaps/cut backs

I’d like to see Romero or VDV try a ball over the top now and again. I see the attackers making runs for one then having to charge back when the ball just goes out short or wide every time.

Bissouma had the ball in space 20 yards from the goal and had know intention of attacking, Lol !
these modern day midfielders make me sick to the stomach

Think we’ve played alright but we lack any urgency in the attacking third. Johnson and Udogie have looked like the only players in our team with an appetite to take on their man. Son has looked dangerous in his movement but Madders, Romero and Biss aren’t spotting him most of the time.
