Reckon we'd be better off with Tapsoba. Yes, Laporte has played the role for Pep already, but he's approaching his 30s,
and let's face it we'll probably not do it as well as City, we're likely to be punished more often for standing high with the ball.
Could see the need for faster defenders running up counters.
Ideally we need both, an experienced centre back and a younger prospect
Laporte and Dier as the experienced leaders, Romero and another as the prospects
Silva has done fine for Chelsea in his mid to late 30s so don't see age as an issue
I think Romero really needs an experienced player alongside him and possibly another like him would too

Dier has been a major problem in the last couple of years, terrible defender.
We need rid of all these type of players lacking the right mentality and who are scared of their shadow.
There must be a clean sweep.

I agree that you need experienced heads around the dressing room, particularly with defenders. Like when we had Naybet. He was apparently brilliant for Ledley. That said, I just don't see Dier as that guy. We need another experienced centre back to lead the line. Laporte may well be it. IMO it's not Romero. He needs someone more experienced next to him.

It’s been Dier’s lack of leadership that has been our biggest problem.

Apologies if this has already been said, but it's been stuck in my head for ages now, so I might as well pass it on to others...

Does anyone pronounce this dude's name as "I'm Eric" Laporte?

Sadly we can't replace them all and Dier is not the worst of the others so he will stay this year. He's certainly a leader in the locker room. He just doesn't have a lot of quality. His attitude is perfectly fine, a good professional who is just not good enough to start. Perfectly fine for the squad for next season. Hopefully next summer complete the defensive rebuild.

He’s 29, right? This will be his last ‘big team’ contract before he retires in Saudi Arabia or MLS.

We are looking for a starting LCB to play alongside a very good RCB in Romero. We would be willing to pay him very well.

Doesnt seem impossible.
Haven't figure out who this very good Romero is? Is he disciplined enough to play in a 4 man backline? He consistently is too high up the pitch and does not have the recovery speed to get back. Must have a CB that can cover so Romero can take advantage of his strengths without hurting the team.

As long as he’s not “I’m Eric Dier” I’ll be very happy
