FIFA have imposed a transfer ban on Barcelona for the next 2 windows, effectively meaning they can do no incoming business until Summer 2015.
At first I thought this might relate to the slightly dodgy Neymar deal, but apparently it's for breach of regulations in the transfer of U18 players.

There goes Vertonghen's dream move this summer!!!!

Why the bloody hell couldn't it be Real Madrid! Ah well, at least it's one less club that Lloris could be poached by...

Laporte will probably be able to avoid the blame for this but Rosell is going to need police protection

Yeah this will get appealed, and even if they were to lose in the time it would take to hear the appeal I'm sure they would rush through a couple of signings (keeper and centreback definitely).

I assume the ban doesn't apply to loans? If it's not overturned, they'll simply loan in players with fees agreed for after the embargo is lifted. Sure, they'll probably have to pay a few extra bob, but like they'd care.

business as usual, but with 200 extra pages in each contract.

Great news. Spanish clubs have been getting away with murder for ages, it is nice to see FIFA/UEFA actually act against one of the big boys.

my exact thoughts, fuck we can only sell to Real this year (don't want to sell to another prem club) lol

They're probably going spend a lot to try and make the most of their advantage during the next few windows, but I can't see them wanting any of our lot :p

They can't register them, that's the point. Barcelona can buy every player in the world but none of them would be eligible to play for the whole of next season

People are saying that it will probably be overturned or lessened (shorter ban) after an appeal

Depends how long Barca can fight it though, if they were able to keep an appeal going until into this summers transfer window then I presume whilst it was under appeal they wouldn't face any sanctions to buying a player and any punishment would have to be enacted from the winter window onwards, giving them time to get some deals done.
