They said tonight on ITV that rumours were both Benayoun and Babel were after moves, fed up with rotation etc.

When we bought Bent I said I wished we'd put a bid in for Babel instead.
He's got far more to his game. Not sure we could him as other good clubs will be interested. But he's a good player who's been benched alot at liverpool and then played mostly out of position by Benitez.

Benayoun is an intelligent player, I'm not sure exactly where we'd play him but he's an interesting player who would bring some intelligence. Could play wide right, left or even as Modric back up maybe ??

Should we be interested in these two ?

Babel scored one goal this season and 10 last season. Fantastic!

Benayoun isn't any better than Malbranque, who we already sold.

Well, Liverpool won't let both leave at the same time.

I think Babel will be a very good player and already is a good player. So I would want him.

Benayoun is good, he can produce pure magic but he doesn't do it often enough. If cheap, I would take him as well, but I don't even us can promise him more playing time, and he ain't leaving Liverpool's bench for our bench.

Bah, I think this all papier mache talk...the only way Jaffa will let them leave is if he can sign another 5 middle of the road players in their place.

Also BC what in your opinion is so great about Babel? To me, he just seems like a slightly above average player who was purchased because of his displays in an U21 European Championship.

No not really.

I think Babel is very quick and is technically good. He definately has some potential but we have enough of that already!

Benayuon has his moments of brilliance, but I think most of the time he just flatters to decieve, no consistency.

Think we should be looking elsewhere!

I cant imagine them getting more games at Spurs to be honest. Unless we go 4-4-2, then Babel might stand a chance of starting. But Benayeoun would be pointless because we already have Lennon and Giovani. I'd rather we go for a defensive midfielder and someone who can play on the left or behind the striker. Babel could do that, but i think there are better options for that role. Arshavin, Duda, Di Maria and Ben Arfa for example, would be higher up the list for me.

Depending on how much Liverpool would want for Babel I would rather have him on board then Frazer Campbell on loan.

I imagion Liverpool will want a fair amount for him though, I'd like to think we could do better with the money then either of these players. But who knows, both are atleast used to the league....I wouldn't be overly excited by either signing but could see merits in the move and they could work well under Harry I suppose (if price was right would atleast add decent depth to our squad....but why would they swap being a bench warmer there to warm our bench?)

I think I would pass on both.

I like Benayoun as a player, he is intelligent, has decent technique and is pretty hard working as well. But not sure what role in the squad he would play for us and whether he would be happy in rotation. We have bigger problems to solve than a 4th right sided midfielder.

As for Babel, he is quick and again he has decent technique, but I don't really know what his best position is. He doesn't seem that comfortable on the left and whenever I have seen him play as a striker I haven't been at all impressed. He isn't a very good striker of the ball and seemed to panic in front of goal. Not sure he would ever have the brain to pull it off properly. He is halfway there in terms of the athletic side and technical side, but I just can't see him making up the rest.

Benayoun is too slow(imagine him and Bentley on the wings!) and Babel is too high a calibre for us. If he leaves it would be for another Champions league side.
