Before we all jump on the Bale bandwagon which individual signing is the best for the team in the long run, and why? Strong selection, I see pros and cons for the lot.

PEH on showing so far imo, Bale is still an unknown quantity. As he mentioned, he makes everyone else play better.

Reguilon for me. Good defender, good going forward and huge energy. Brings us something we've been lacking for years, particularly since he has the ability to play a final ball. Think Sonny and him down the left will cause huge problems for a lot of opponents.

Bale :)

Honestly though, if we can get him fit and playing to his ability he will have such a massive influence on this team. I think he'll bring other players up a level.

Regy and Holjberg hugely important pieces in the puzzle. If Aurier plays like he did on Sunday then Doc has a fight on his hands, which is what our squad needed more of.

Bale - he obviously hasn't played yet but the lift his signing gave the club was something you only get when an established world class player joins. The added bonus of his history with the club made it extra special.

On the pitch, Hojbjerg and Reguilon will be absolutely critical for Jose if he is to be successful here.

For me it's Reguilon, as I genuinely think it was his signing that moved us from the lopsided formation that wasn't quite working to this more balanced 4-3-3 with Hojbjerg holding. He's such an outlet on that side and his energy is infectious. Fair play to Levy for pushing for this one as it seems LB was not at the top of Jose's wishlist (I'm sure he wanted one but still).

That said the window has been incredible and you could make a case for any of the 5 outfield signings:

Hojbjerg - Since dropping to the holding role he has really come into his own and is looking like the player we were desperately missing. To get him for £3m plus KWP is an absolute masterstroke. A hard-working leader that fights for every ball and is showing some quality on the ball too. Brilliant on Sunday, long may it continue.

Vinicius - Finally a striker, and Jose's top target no less, and somehow for an improbable 3m up front! Ridiculously good business.

Doherty - One of the top performing attacking RBs in the league for a paltry £15m. Now with the added bonus of lighting a fire under Aurier. Genuine competition at full back is a key component of this window.

Bale - We did it guys! Bale is home. That speaks for itself. You can see the lift it has given to the place.

Vinicius for me, finally we can have a proper striker when Kane is not playing.

However as impact on the first 11 it's Reguilon. He's already showing what he can bring to the table.

PEH £ for £ is our best signing in years, a massive influence on the side for relatively little.

If I knew Reguilon would be here for the long term then it would be him comfortably. He will be a special player. Hopefully it's here.

For that reason, I went with PEH. Bale will (hopefully) have more effect in the short-term, but PEH is still somewhat young that he should be here for a long time, and I don't think he'll necessarily get to a level where he's in demand from the super clubs. I wouldn't be surprised if PEH is a future club captain.

I am very happy with PEH, Bale and especially Reguilon (so went for him), but the best 'signing' might not be a signing after all.. A fit, motivated and regularly playing Tanguy Ndombele.

Between PEH and Reggie, both are going to be huge for us.

I'd say PEH though...like the man said himself, the glue of the side.

We achieve that balance between discipline, positioning and progressive play through the midfield.

He's the crucial cog for making us a well oiled machine.

Reguilon should be the best long term signing if we can avoid Real activating his release clause. Most successful sides that play good football will have rapid full-backs or wing-backs that bomb up and down the pitch and provide an extra dimension to the attack - we haven't had that for the past three years. A player like this will not only help us to counter-attack faster but will provide extra space for our forwards and midfielders as he gets forward himself - something we rarely saw from Davies and a post-injury Rose.

I've written about my concerns over Bale's injury record and how much time he'll actually be spending on the pitch with us in other threads, however his signing did give the club a massive lift and I wonder if we'd have been able to convince Reguilon to join us over Man Utd without him.

Shout out to Hojbjerg as well though - wasn't too sure about him after what I was hearing from Saints fans but a good start to his Spurs career.

PEH. Making an impact from day 1

Reggie, full of promos but that's yet to be reality
Bale, well he's injured, Lets see how many tines we say that
Doh, I think will be a great signing, and you can already see that Serge has upped his game as a result.

Hart, we know he's there to bolster the squad, and Vini, who knows,,,,,,

Hojbjerg seems to have started to add some physicality and tenacity in the middle, but without compromising technical ability. Bale and Vinicius will hopefully makes us less dependent on Kane and Son, as such keep them fresher.
However, early signs for me, Reguillon or Doherty have been key so far, can’t be coincidence that their arrival has seen Aurier and Davies up their output.
You can make a case for most of them really.

Time will tell. Hojbjerg was a must try signing since he cost 3m net, worst case you get the return of your investment. Currently has most passes in the league and bossed United.

Reguilon was my #1 LB choice and I can't believe we got him, I think he will be back in Madrid in 2 years though, he is too good.

Hart is there for HG quota, also another voice in dressing room.

Doherty is only beat by TAA in goals/assists last 2 years plus brings competition for Aurier and he's HG and relatively cheap.

Vinicius remains to be seen but he will prolong Kane's career.

Best for last is Bale, simply a world class player who knows how to score (and with style) in big games.
