After today, this tells me more that Dembele needs to be further forward. Two reasons for this, one, he offers way more ball retention further up the pitch and can get freekicks / penalties all day long, secondly, i feel him and Wanyama get in each others way. Wanyama can handle the holding role alone. My starting 11 would be something like:

Lloris
Walker Toby Verts Rose
Wanyama Winks or Alli
Lamela Dembele Son
Kane

Eirksen has been piss poor all season and today i feel he was blah again, Alli hasn't been at the races so for me it would be between Winks and Alli for that CM2 postion. I feel now is the time to utilise Dembele further up the pitch with Wanyama having a great start to the season. For me this will give us way more attacking play as well, with strength, pace and ball retention in their final third.

Any way... great to go to Arsenal today, with all the pundits basically jizzing all over them. Without Toby at the back, without Lamela or the option of Alli and without a fully fit Kane and we didn't get lucky, we fully deserved that draw. Well played lads and Poch.

Like that team a lot.

On Eriksen, he had a few good moments today but I agree.
He refuses to travel with the ball and his constant shirking of challenges drives me crazy.

Spot on with that team. id go for Winks over Alli but weve not seen enough of him yet to know whether hes the real deal or not.

How on earth can you arrive at the assumption Winks would be in our best XI?

Laughable

Two points.... one i said Winks or Alli, so that position was the only one i was on the fence with, i wasn't specifially saying Winks should be starting 11.

Second point, why not give Winks a try there. Do you think it's beneficial to the team to keep playing Eriksen who has been utter dog shit or Alli who really hasn't done anything of note.

It's all about balance, people keep going on and on and on about a Modric type player in our team, for me Winks is the closest to that (of course he is no Modric who was incredible), but with the physical brute Wanyama next to him, we might have someone who can dictate the play a little better.

So back to you, if my suggestion is so laughable, who currently in our team is dictacting play? Why are we so slow going forward? And why are we lacking any goal threat? Surely giving Winks a try couldn't make our attacking play any worse?

Best ascii tactics ever

Well shit, no new signings in there (so a good summer then? - maybe but too early, the new signings are not necessarily bad)... but that's my choice 11

Dier vs Wanyama was my closest call, sonny got a fleeting thought.

Would swap Dembele with Alli as you don't need another bruiser when you have Wanyama sitting there. Alli will support the attack more.

Nice team but Dier has to feature for me.

Also think it's madness to debate Alli being in the best 11 just because he's hasn't hit the heights of last season and we played quite well today without him.

We always raise our game for this fixture and although he's not been at his best he still produces watch winning and saving contributions. Considering we haven't won in 7 games it's madness to leave him out.

Re the Dembele debate; it's been done to death on here. Yes he can take on players nearer to the opposition goal, but he still lacks end product which is why he's been moved back down the pitch as his career has progressed. The fact is he had his best season for us last year in a deeper role so I see no reason to change it. Him and Wanyama just need to work on the partnership.

Unfortunately, the truth is we don't have anyone truly suited for the CM role as we have no real Modric type playmaker and have a squad with too many No.10's in it ( and unfortunately not one of them is absolute top quality).

No matter how we shuffle the pack the balance is still not quite right.

I think the formation we played today was very effective. It allowed Jan to join in attacks. And gave the full backs a bit more room to go forward. Two up top is also a must considering our goal problems.

I may be alone, but I think Eriksen is very important to us and getting him back on form is essential. Dropping him may help or it may not, but disregarding in the belief that he's not good enough would be a big mistake.

Otherwise, I agree completely.
