Any idea what was actually said? I imagine it was pretty libellous rather than just the general moaning on here.

Hilarious. Absolutely laughable. Free speech be damned.

By the way, their also suing the former head of the supporters trust. It's as if they're trying to lose fans?

It's surely gotten to a point now where the fans need to just collectively come together and stop going, nothing will hurt the convicted rapist and his son more than an empty stadium.
Careful. Dont want to get yourself sued too:ROFLMAO::rolleyes:

I've tried looking but it's very difficult to find anything that was said. It must be pretty serious though. I notice that the claims are against the posters and NOT the site owners. You're safe for now Rob ;)

Are they? I thought it was the site being sued...
Yeah the artlicle sounds like its the site. I say it's best we try to keep a positive relationship with the club now and not get under their skin. Who knows what kinds of ideas they could get now after this one. All hail dear leader Levy:rolleyes:

You don't know whatever's been said on there falls under 'free speech'

Free speech is not a shelter against Libel, if that's what it is

It's the site:

Ladies and Gentlemen

To clear up any rumours, on Thursday the 5th of February 2015, Back Henry Street was served papers from the court, relating to the Oystons, and Blackpool Football Clubs intent to seek damages for six allegedly defamatory comments made on the site in 2014, limited collectively at £150,000.

For obvious reasons, we can not go into any more detail at this time.

Thank you for your continued support.
The Steed

I can see why Rob might get a bit nervous.... luckily, while Levy has his moments, he doesn't seem to be completely fucking mental. Unlike the Oystons.

Edit: Personally I don't think the Oystons have a case, any more than people have a case against Twitter for comments posted there - It's the poster who has made the comment, and would be liable if it were libellous. However, defending themselves will be extremely expensive, stressful, and there's no certainty of winning....

Did you read the thread? The Oystons want the site shut down! Apparently, one of the Oystons former employees own a site that they say is exempt from any of this stuff that forum is going through.

I really feel bad for blackpool. They need someone to save the club from this family. The club might not be around much longer at this point. Refusing to invest in the club, pay transfer or loan fees, getting the fans to hate them. Sucks for that club.

The article says some of the posts in question were "false, defamatory and, in some cases, threatening", so I would think that falls outside the realms of 'free speech', much like some of the shit that has been posted in the past on twitter that people ended up in court over.

Like everything else, its up to the individual to think about what they're posting before hitting the "Post Reply" button, because it's not just the poster that will be held responsible, but also the admins/owners of the site for allowing it to posted to their site.
