Apologies if this has been posted before

Highlights from the Under-17 game against Chelski, which we walked: 5-2!

It won't be long before he starts knocking on the doors of the first time.

And we also seem to have a good striker coming through the ranks, that no. 9: Kudus Oyenuga

Looks like Chelsea will have to wait before Cech and Cudicini can retire.

One of the worst errors on a corner I've ever seen.

Good to see the kids doing well.

If they are good enough, they are old enough.

some real sloppy defending from both sides in it, but at least we won!

I agree, I guess he still needs sharpening in the basics before he moves into the first team fold, doubt will be long tho

hmmm, maybe a place on the subs bench tomorrow night will help his development.

Don't know about Bostock, but kudos to Kudus.

Not sure about the wisdom of playing Boris Johnson at leftback.

Boris did look out of place, but Kudus looked good for his age as did Bostock, surely they can play for the reserves.

Bostock was tracked by Chelsea and Barcelona (a rarity) - how often do the top spanish clubs come hunting for 15 year olds playing in the second tier of England let alone the First?

He has something special, so much so, that palace rejected offers from chelsea when he was just a teenager (£900 k) only to see him leave for spurs for 1.6 million more a little while later.

Many people have claimed he has the quality to eclipse even steven gerrard and could be the future of the english center midfield within the next 5 years - lets hope so.

People asking him to be included into the first team - I dont agree, infact I think that could be quite counter productive and stunt his development. He hardly played at palace (something like 5 appearences), so to throw him in at the deep end in the premier league would be a massive gamble.

Id rather see him slowly move up the rankings at spurs from u-17 level to reserve team football or see him go on loan to a championship club to then unmask a potentially world class player in 2-3 years time, then put the weight of the world on his shoulders and expect him to be spurs' saviour to our midfield problems at such a young age. He needs time..

Rackybear - sorry, but I disagree.

I've seen Bostock a couple of times on Sky at England youth level, and he's a Rolls Royce of a player. Bostock is probably the biggest talent in his agegroup for England. We had some ITK on here that his technique is equal to, or better than, pretty much the entire first team squad.

At Palace in the Championship, Bostock was learning his trade from players like Shaun Derrry and Carl Fletcher. At Spurs, he's training with players like Luka Modric. It's clear that he's going to learn more top-class, top-quality, habits at Spurs.

There was also Palace ITK that Warnock didn't fancy him in the Championship, and I think it's entirely plausible that he's the wrong sort of player to stick in a blood-and-thunder, very direct, team.

I think we need to develop him by coaching him to play specific roles (or a specific role) for the reserves and youth team, and - if and when we start playing more effective, more confident football - by giving him occasional first team action.

The last thing I want is for Bostock to get lots of bad habits by playing for a poor Championship team, or to get kicked to bits by inferior players. It's only last season we lost the jewel of our Academy in young Terry Dixon. With 16-17-year-old players, who are still growing physically, I think a club can afford to be very selective about the competitive games in which they play.

Is Danny Rose not playing at that level? (How old is he now?)

Danny Rose was used as a CM for the reserves for most of last season. The ITK was that we were trying to introduce some discipline and understanding of other positions into a youngster who'd primarily been a LM or a striker.

This season, we seem to be using Rose for the reserves in a more attacking role. However, given the very few ressie fixtures so far, it's hard to tell if this is a deliberate reversion to his natural positions, or simply a reflection of the fact that the club is short of strikers at every age-group level.

Bostock (Jan 1992) is 18 months younger than Rose (June 1990).

I disagree with this bit. The kid needs games if he's going to develop. Look at Fabregas/Rooney/Ronaldo. They've been playing since a young age and it's helped them immeasurably.

Sure - absolutely Bostock needs to play a good deal of competitive match football. But none of Fabregas/Rooney/Ronaldo were farmed out to a Championship team to learn kick-and-run habits, and get kicked to bits by inferior journeyman.

All of them were given opportunities at the top level and took them. Indeed, it's arguable that all of them played too much top quality competitive football as 17-year-olds, and may suffer for this in the long term - as, for instance, Michael Owen appears to be doing.

I'm not saying Bostock shouldn't play competitive games. I am saying that if we're coaching top class habits into him in training, and he plays 40 games this season, broken down as follows:

- 10 games at England age group level
- 10 games at Academy level
- 10 games for the reserves
- 10 games (incl sub appearances) for the first team

that would be a lot of competitive football for a 16-year-old.

It's a fair shout, Fabregas was starting for the Arsenal first team when he was 17 years old and Rooney was only 16 when he scored on his debut against the gunners wasn't he?

There's no doubting that the kid has huge talent, not because he scored some hat-trick of what were mostly tap-ins but just for everything that he's been doing and the noises he's been making. I'd give him a run out tonight in the carling cup, why the hell not!
