Course they have. Don’t want other clubs to think we’re as desperate as we are.
It’s fine to say it but to also have no really strong links/ITK to being super active right now it’s disheartening.

Now I know the press/ITK doesn’t catch wind of everything but when players are close to signing it gets pretty noisy.

ITK is largely fantasy but I doubt you will see any activity until some outgoings occur.

I always find these statements funny. Every Club is looking to improve for the right price.

And its very obvious we need to improve certain positions lol

Mourinho and Levy have stated we don't need to sign players in January.

Depressing

Mourinho also said no chance for Bruno and ITK and some medias dismissed this. Same we have reports that he wants defender despite saying the opposite. Same that Sess won't play as left-back and Sissoko as 6. We also have Arsenal as example that publicly saying they have only 40m helped him.

They are wrong. Very wrong.
They aren’t “wrong”, they are lying. There’s a difference.

This is a bargaining position of “we don’t need to buy players, so don’t think you’ve got us over a barrel”.

it seems that everyone is all over Soumare now. Gotta hope our connections work in our favour.

We really need to get the Lille director of football in. Madrid want these three!

Ah yes good old Real Madrid were major signings in Hazard, Jovic and Miltao have had limited game time. World class Bale is treated like he doesn’t exist and the extremely talented Odegaard has been sent out on loan for the last 3 seasons. Then there’s the highly promising Hakimi who’s also been loaned out for 2 seasons. Real Madrid are a hoarder and ZZ has no idea how to manage his squad.

I’ve never seen him play so can’t comment on that. I’d be very wary about signing another player from France for big money (as I was when signing Ndombele) though. I’m sure there must be a competent and experienced mid twenties defensive midfielder knocking about in Spain, Italy or Germany that could be picked up for under £20 million and be just as effective. There simply must be.

I don't really get these league biases tbh. There have been loads of successful signings from the French league, just as there have been loads of shit signings from Spain, Italy and Germany. It's far more down to the quality of the scouting and the ability of the individual than the league they come from - and if anything the physical nature of the French league is tailor made for finding DMs, unlike the slower paced Italian and Spanish leagues.

2 of the best DMs in the league right now Fabinho and Kante came from France, and Ndidi came from Belgium.

I also think Tanguy will be an excellent signing if he can sort out his head and his injury issues (neither of which have anything to do with the league he came from). When he's actually been fit the talent is there for all to see and fingers crossed he'll be massive for us going forward.

Were they signed mid season and hit the ground running though?

That’s what we need.

None of those players were. With an established, experienced player who’s played at the top level for 6/7 seasons there’s much more chance it will come off. That was more the point I was making. If there’s one in the French League, then fair enough, as long as though he’s not another Stambouli!
