Also a massive shout out to Sanchez. Came in and was pretty much flawless today.

Maybe with the team playing front foot football he might be more settled (if we decide to keep him - which I think we might do - ange may think he can trust him).

All things considered, it’s really promising that many of our best performers were all new faces. Maddison, Udogie, VDV and Bissouma (classing him as new as first time he’s been trusted).

Hopefully a sign that our recruiting is improving.

Also, I’m trying to keep myself in check but the last two games have really given me second thoughts about Sanchez. He should probably still go, but still he’s done well.
He suits this system better than some others but still should be no better than 4th choice. That means we still need one more CB to come in as cover/competition for VdV.

Hard to criticize richarlison when he got exactly one chance. Wingers provided no service. Don't remember any decent crosses coming in either on the ground or in the air. Part of it was down to Brentford's dropping deep, but until we see our wingers be able to put balls into the box I don't think we can fully judge Richarlison.

Had to make it about Dier. Why? There's just no need. And Sanchez looked pretty good v Barca alongside Dier so..
Actually it’s not about Dier, I’m just speaking facts. Sanchez looks better with a player that isn’t slow.

Happy with the point all things considered. Brentford are essentially designed to exploit our weaknesses, and while we did get lucky at times, we handled them very well.

The only thing is that our top 3 are looking rather toothless, but hopefully they'll sharpen up as the season progresses.

My main issue with Richi today was how slowly he shifted the ball between his feet. When chances come against a compact defence, either use your wrong foot or move it quicker. We've been spoiled with Harry, who was better than almost everyone in the game at it.

Considering we had 3 debuts in defence and then lost Romero in the first half., I thought it was a decent performance. Keeper not convincing just yet.
Brentford is a hard place to go. In the last two seasons they have battered Arsenal and Man Utd in the first home game. They just defend and then counter attack with pace and balls over the full backs.
No Dier in the squad. Apparently taken anything Spurs related off his IG. Could he be off.

Damn shame we didn't get the win I really thought we'd get, we came out in the second just as I expected, to win it and we were well the better side.
An unlucky pen and deflected goal done for us.
Udogie and Van de Ven both look the part and Bisouma was a stand out, he could be immense this season.

We have spend Kane money on fast dribbling wingers and a striker
My come away thought from the game, is that Son isnt one of these fast dribbling wingers that are needed for this system. I wanted Richy to go off when Son did. Son, in my opinion would be more dangerous through the middle. His game isnt to dribble past 3 or 4 players on the wing, he spent more time hugging the touchline.

This is the realty post Kane, we need an out and out finisher, to finish off our good play.
We did deserve something out of the game, but the fact we scored twice, both defenders, does worry me a bit.

Positives - i thought we played well, Bissouma + Maddison the standouts, Udogie did well as well. We need to spend on a proven striker is my main thought as Richy and Son cant cover for Kane's goals IMO

We should of won that.

But very encouraging signs, totally dominated the first half hour of the second half then ran out of steam.

Bissouma was absolutely outstanding. What a player.

Maddison was very good, so classy.

VDV looks good as does Udogie.

Was very disappointed with Kulusevski...what's happened to him?

Solomon should of been on for him.

Son is wasted out wide.

And Richarlison needs a goal badly.

The midfield looks so good but it was the front three that lacked cutting edge.

Plenty or Agne to think about

What in the name of god was Conte telling Bissouma before games??? Different player today.

I'd be tempted to try Porro in the Kul role. I think he would offer quite a bit there.

Impressed with the performance especially second half. Sanchez looked good and new signings all played well notably van de ven and udogie. Lord knows why bissouma didn’t get more game time last season. Not convinced current front three work. Think right winger and back up / competition striker minimum. Coys
Front three looked quite ineffective yea. Kulu is the most concerning one for me, as he's been off form for a long while now and it's been a sharp descent too. From a right wing de Bruyne to looking like when we put Mousa Dembele on the wing once.

First game against a tough side to play at home I thought we did well, definitely things to work on but a very encouraging start I thought. I did think the front 3 were pretty poor but Brentford did have 10 men behind the ball most of the game.

Game we dominated, game we should have won. I’m sure many will criticize Richarlison but he’s doing his job of pressing up against the CBS but he’s not getting any service. I don’t see how Postecoglou’s system can work with an inverted winger on one flank and an inside forward on the other side. We are not getting enough crosses in.
Bissouma and Maddison were very good, the debutants did well. Royal was poor and Skipp didn’t really affect the game. Was very surprised AP took so long to make changes, that he made so few and especially Lo Celso and maybe Solomon didn’t get on.
First game though so early days. There was a lot to like but we will have tougher games which may expose us more especially defensively. ManU will cause much more problems next week.
Have to disagree on Royal. I thought Emerson looked great. System suits him.
