yet the last 2 seasons still haven't seen us address the impact of those poch years of zero investment (for god sakes, we still have those players playing & producing the same poor results).

Indeed, will take some time.

We are still very much a work in progress. Personally I'm delighted we have Ange in charge and am looking forward to see what he does with the team going forward, once he's had a few windows to build the squad

Ange doesn’t pick Dier for a good reason - it’s suicide in this system. At the very least this result should confirm beyond doubt that we need to sign a genuinely good fast ball playing centre back in the first half of January.
And Dier is probably on his way out anyway... I understand him not playing tonight... It wasn't Emerson or Davies' fault that we lost tonight... personal mistakes for the penalties. Other players not tracking their opponents... bad passing... not winning duels all over the pitch.

Btw Hilshenwoood has a punchable face and De Zerbia prick.
Estupinan is also a prick tbh.

Overrated team this Brighton.

thanks Levy for buying us lots of CBs

First time this season we looked a shambles. We played poorly against Wolves, but in the 1st half especially tonight we were a fucking shambles. Goes to show that with key players out, the rest can't cope if players are off it, and tonight far too many were off it.

Even so, incredibly still had enough chances in the final 20 minutes to have got something. But we can't play like that and expect anything really.

And it's suicide playing 4 fullbacks.

So compromise. Cut your cloth accordingly. If you don't have the players to play a system, don't play it for a game or two. Have a plan b.

At least we would stand a chance.

We have been shocking tonight but somehow we were in it to the end despite being 4-0 down at 80minutes. Add to that we have hit the post once, had three marginally offside goals, and another 3/4 chances, all after giving away two stupid penalties. Seriously lets wait until ange has had two more windows to really mould this squad.

EDIT: hit the post twice now

FEELING POSTITVE
Our attacking play was really off today and we were not easy on the eye at all yet we still created bags of chances. The problems we are having are at the base of the midfield and at CB. It's really disrupted the stability of the team. Brighton went more direct today and Emerson and Davies predictably couldn't handle it.

Sunday is going to be tough. Players look shattered and most of them will have to play again in only 3 days.

Despite being 4-0 down I actually felt it was more even than meets the eye. I understand they created a lot against us, but you're allowed to have a world class goalkeeper and that is what we have.

We lost because we gave away two stupid penalties and they scored a worldie of a strike. GLC should have been on much earlier in my opinion as e couldn't make any movement through the middle.

Ange has to do something about our discipline - we pick up so many stupid yellows and to handout two pens in one game is extremely poor.

We've also got a huge problem being caught offside. Too many times this season we have seen both Son and Richalison make their runs too early or not look along the line.

Today was very fine margins. Like most of our losses this season, we really could have got something from the game.

But for two stupid penalties we get a point. The problem isn’t necessarily the plan.
