A Bola apparently reporting we've walked away or Sporting have turned down our offer. TBF, that website almost classifies itself as nominative determinism the amount of shite they churn out
A Bola is very pro-Benfica. I wouldn’t believe a word they say about Fernandes.

As a Sporting member, I would love to see Foyth on loan as part of the deal. Coates is a terrible terrible defender, so Foyth would play every game. And learning from Mathieu would be great for him

Hopefully his form can carry over into the Premier league. I've watched him a few times this season, have to say he's got a decent range of passing and is a busy player, always on the move and looking for the ball.

As I say, just hope he can perform in the Premier league, some of the opposition he faces in Portugal are very mediocre at best.

He’ll be a very good player for United, IMO

How on earth can we be skint?
Everyone in the league is restricted by FFP (or namely, profit and sustainability/short-term cost controls).

We've already spent (including Lo Celso commitment) over £100m this season net, without costs in changing coaching staff, so it's completely plausible. No one else is doing anything of note so far, so no idea why it's treated as if we're outliers.
don't buy it - GLC full commitment hasn't been made to Betis let alone an impact on books. Staff costs not part of FFP. Second most profitable club in PL era; lowest pages of top 4-5 from previous years. Net spend during Poch era of 8 million. Look at very good discussion of our financials by Swiss Ramble and you will understand how much running room there actually is.

As for the stadium - Levy knew he would look at bond issue sometime ago and leveraged success on the field to get that done. Costs for stadium debt low and stretched out over extended period. He also knows what is possible with stadium name.

No excuse for the under spend over past 2-3 years but irrelevant now.

Jose won't stand for it i suspect

Are you suggesting we won't secure his services ?

Or, you see him more suited to United's style of play ?
Probably that he is off to united. To expensive for us because we dont have money to spend this window more or less. That's why we want to loan in 2 players this winter

Sporting Lisbon officials are in London holding talks with #thfc over a potential transfer for midfielder Bruno Fernandes. [beIN Sports]

If Eriksen goes and Bruno comes in, I’dbe pretty satisfied. Add Gedson on a loan and we had a pretty good transfer window

Jules 77 - why the WTF rating. My logic is it
too much cash in successive windows and is based on 20 years+ of frugal ENIC behaviour. What’s your rationale of thing this is worthy of a WTF which suggests it is almost incomprehensible to think that way?
Sorry, I tried to provide an explaination for my rating in my post which you replied to.

I get where you’re coming from, but I think it’s just a bit of a lazy comment that panders to attitudes and frustrations that we’ve all had but that honestly recent events seem to suggest we are moving away from.

We bought n’dombele for big money, committed to buying Lo Celso for big money and evidently were going to buy dybala for big money, all in the space of a month in the last window.

It’s also a bit lazy and unfair to insinuate that the dybala deal fell through for those historical reasons of not wanting to spend. I don’t know what really happened but it seems more likely that it fell through because of image rights not the large transfer fee.

i don’t think this regurgitating off old woes, in light of clear evidence of change, advances the discussion here. That’s why I choose a the exclamation rating.

Of course, I respect your right to an opinion. And you’re right that it isn’t incomprehensible, I just don’t take that rating to mean that! I didn’t mean to swear at you and didn’t mean it in an overly harsh way ?. IRL i’d just be saying ‘come on man’ and making the above points.

Sounds like Sporting are asking for too much and are going to wait for more buyers in the summer.

This would tie in with Dragons ITK about first choices being too expensive
