We definitely need a back up striker to cover Kane that is true. Maybe Fraser’s season sulk has impacted Wilson but Callum has been well short of his previous efforts and has definitely lost most of that good will. I don’t think this is on Howe or the situation Bournemouth have found themselves in. This doesn’t fit with their style of play.
of course Wilson not performing has directly contributed to Bournemouth’s position tho.
As I say maybe a good option as a back up striker. Another English Player would be good positive here but Wilson is only a 5-10 goal a season player atm. Def not 2018 version

To be fair though mate, a new challenge at a bigger Club could be just what he needs.
That could see upturn in performances.

A very realistic back up for Kane imo.

Certainly an interesting option, talented striker full of PL experience and has the pace for a counter attacking gameplan.

Concerns are the injury history and his form this season as pointed out by Hutchinho above.

Overall I feel like it would be a pretty sensible signing at £10m, with Parrott going out on loan. Hopefully the new challenge and the better team mates would help him get closer to his old level, were he to join us.

His wages might be a sticking block. £110,000 a week supposedly. I’d assume Levy wouldn’t wanna give him above 70.
I imagine he’d lose at least 50% of that if Bournemouth goes down, so about £70-80k pw could be agreeable

He is a long long way from that 18/19 form
8 goals and zero assists this year.
He has been a complete non factor with the rest of the team playing around him.

Transfermarkt tells me has has 3. Assist against Villa, Leicester and Mancity.

His career scoring record in the Prem is worse than Dwight Gayle's.

Dwight Gayle has a goal every 228 mins in the Prem.
Callum Wilson has a goal every 231 mins in the Prem.

Gayle's record in The Championship is also superior.

Gayle is the definition of a tap in merchant, though. A pure goalscorer. Wilson has more to his game.

Reading that article, the one PL-striker I’d be interested in from the lower half of the table - that seem to be available - and fit the criteria’s needed: Sebastien Haller.

Loved him while in Germany and thought West Ham got a stud. Understand that it isn’t realistic but will be a good signing for someone at cut-price.

Callum Wilson? He’d be a fine back-up, sure. For £10M I’d call it a sensible deal.

No issue with either Gayle or Wilson as back up to Kane. Would probably prefer we took a punt on someone like Ollie Watkins instead though.

If we are scraping the barrel this low, then surely someone like Jordan Ayew makes more sense, as he's not bad footballer and works very hard.

We literally have 0 back-up strikers bar someone who's barely played first-team football, and we're linked with a striker who has proven he can be very effective at Premier League level, and people are still moaning.

Seriously, who the fuck do you want? Who??? Milik? If Milik flopped, the same people would be abusing Levy for not signing someone who was PL-proven.

Fucks sake.

Fuck it, Teemu Pukki?
I sincerely hope not. Besides that purple patch at the start of the season he’s been bang average at best his whole career. Couldn’t do it at Sevilla, Schalke and even for Celtic playing against amateurs. Only scored goals at Norwich due to their kamikaze attacking style. Would hope we’d avoid him.

Makes sense if the £10m quoted fee is anywhere near accurate. He has been pony this season, but he’s been good prior so maybe a change is scenery would do him the world of good. He ticks a lot of boxes as a back up CF and he’s HG

Was waiting for this link. For 10m he’s a no brainer for me. I think he’d be a tremendous backup option for the price he’s quoted at.

Home grown, Premier League proven, England capped, and has been putting up close to an average of 10 Premier League goals a season in a bang average Bournemouth side [not to mention the 14G, 9A in 2500 minutes he had last season which was impressive].

He offers something different to Kane as he’s got more pace but he is still a pretty strong finisher both in the air and on ground.

Is he the best striker option on the market? No, probably not. But I’m struggling to think of any other striker that is 28 or younger and available for 10m or less that would be better for us than Callum Wilson. He could definitely do a job for us in the Europa League and the domestic cups and could be relied on for several more seasons.

I actually think he would be one of the better backup strikers in the league IMO.

Not to mention he’s a signing that poses very little financial risk as he’ll hold his value at 10m. If we loan out Parrott next season and he tears it up or if we return to a more competitive financial position in the upcoming window(s) and want to get a “better option”, we could definitely flog him off to another side for a similar [and potentially higher] fee.

Here’s a good montage of his goals for Bournemouth over the years without obnoxious music:

Bear with and I might have this completely wrong. His cousin delivered a bed for us and I am sure he said he was a Spurs fan. Hahaha

agree completely. Wonder if we can shave the price down to 7m by having Parott go the other way on a 1yr loan?
