He laid the ball off to Dele which is exactly what I said he does (as in, he doesn't tend to bring the ball under control and hold defenders off).

Before laying the ball he won it from the air... That's what i was saying ... Targetman strikers are just like that... They lay it off.. giroud does it, adebayor did that, llorente also same... And main thing, they won aerial battles

I'm going to start by saying that I would have been all for signing Wilson as back-up to Kane last summer. Unfortunately, I think his form last season was the anomaly, not this season, so it probably would have been a mistake. For me, his failure to back up last season's form raises the question of whether he's up to the challenge at a big club.

For those who think he had an off season this year, here's his PL stats:
Overall - 40 goals / 122 games (average of 8 goals per season, over 5 years)
2015-16 - 5 goals / 13 games
2016-17 - 6 goals / 20 games
2017-18 - 8 goals / 28 games
2018-19 - 14 goals / 30 games (anomaly)
2019-20 - 7 goals / 31 games

His goal tally marginally increased over the course of his first three seasons in the PL, but his goal / game ratio actually decreased each season. His goal return improved drastically (almost doubled) in 2018-19, but now he's back to a similar return as in the previous three seasons. He has only hit double figures once in five seasons. That gives him a 20% chance of reproducing that form next season. It could be argued that playing in a stronger team will make it easier for him to score, but that's possibly cancelled out by the fact that he won't be a regular starter.

In domestic cups, during the same five years, he scored 3 goals in 11 games - and even counting goals in all competitions he has still only hit double figures in 2018-19 (plus 2014-15...in the Championship).

Maybe scoring less than 1 in 3 is good enough for a back-up, if they make a decent overall contribution and allow us to maintain our system when Kane is injured / rested. However, I'm not convinced it's an upgrade on playing one of existing wingers / AM as a no.9 or false 9 though - this is the point that Poch made in the past when the club was criticised for not signing another striker. Factoring in that his current salary would make him our 4th highest paid player, I'm even less convinced this is a good signing. Taking a risk on giving opportunities to Parrott or another young striker could be better.

This is the point though. He doesn't have to be an upgrade on our current players. He has to fill a hole where there is nobody and thus be the 4/5th option of our forward line. I don't see how we can expect to get a player better than the likes of Son/Moura/Bergwijn for that role. Parrott needs a loan also. This is a perfect short term solution. If I was spurs, I'd get this done and sign that 18 year old Wigan forward and loan him back to the championship also and live with Wilson for a season and see what we have with Parrott and Geldhart with a years loan under their belt.

Not a bad idea to go for this guy. Even if his role was to start once very 5 matches, and come on in
3 or the other 4 for Kane sometime before the 75th minute, he’d have value

I think a 80 million pound signing would better suit that role.

And that is where we keep going wrong in looking for some back up to alleviate Kane.

Wilson would be a good shout.

Exactly and I hope my sarcasm shone through. My point is, if we want to make big signings then we need to plug certain gaps in smart ways. 5th choice forward is one of those.

For £10M it’s very tempting, but I’d personally prefer Sarr as I think there’s significantly more to his game, and he’s still developing.

If Fulham don’t go up in the payoffs I would be all for getting Mitrovic, proper old school CF target man in the Mourinho mould imo

Mitrovic would be awesome but I reckon if he leaves it’s to be first choice and for a big club at that. He’s got everything you’d want from a striker in my opinion.

It wasn't long ago the chavs were willing to pay 50m for him, if we got him for 10m that is an absolute bargain, didn't we pay more for llorente, who was about 38 (jk) at the time.

Mitrovic is a great shout! Still only 25. Send Skipp on loan at the same time.

Llorente showed us how important it is to have a big target man in your squad, which is now even more important with Jose as our manager.

Our interest in Giroud is further proof of this. Some of my friends turned their noses up at him but his goals may well have got Chelski into the Champions League next season! I wonder how many of his goals have directly yielded points since the lockdown period began? Oli McBurnie is also a very useful centre forward target man.

Signing Wilson would be a Levy signing. A square peg for a round hole. I think it’s probably just lazy journalism.

Yep we just need someone who can do a job and also lead the line when Kane needs to be subbed or rested.

Being too ambitious has meant we haven’t got anyone and it’s had an effect on Kane’s physical health.

I‘d like him but just can’t see he’ll join anywhere that he isn’t going to be the main man.

Thats’s why he signed a new deal at Fulham and is happy there.

Completely agree on the Giroud compliments as well as Mitrovic. It’s a tricky one as a player like Benteke or even Janssen would be almost useless for us and Son would end up playing striker 9/10 over him. Haven’t seen much from Wilson indicating he’s anything more than a decent back up with pace, and imo we could have a better player join us.. but if he’s willing this is a position we have an absolute necessity to sign.

I know this may be off topic, but I actually think Josh King is better all around. Also a player like Ollie Watkins from Brentford or even Welbeck (Watford went down today) could be very interesting.
