He'd be our 2nd quickest CB according to speeddb.com (whatever that site's worth), which is one of the qualities we'd need with a higher line. I suppose we at least need someone who can first catch/keep up with attackers before they can even put in a challenge and not just be left in a trail of dust. He's semi quick, Ange knows him and vice-versa, homegrown, and he knows the club. In Ange we have to trust.

As it stands, according to speedbd.com:

Romero 20.64mph
Royal 20.38
Carter-Vickers 19.82
Dier 19.45
Lenglet 19.01
Tanganga 18.02
Sanchez 15.84

Lol I’m not having it that Sanchez is that much slower than Dier.

That might just be top speed, Acceleration is more important in football. I think the context I mean acceleration is, ability to move through the gears. Over a long distance though, it's perfectly possible that Dier would have a higher top speed because his mass and force would create the speed but it's quite rare in football that these situations occur to where they gave enough yards to showcase that speed.

It's also possible that Sanchez simply didn't play enough for the situation to occur for his top speed but Dier certainly can have a higher top speed but Sanchez be considered faster.

Unless I’ve missed something the only link is some guy on Twitter making it up as a joke. Nobody else has even referenced it? Couldn’t see anything in the ITK thread either?

If there’s a deal that could have me lose faith early… I just think the Scottish league is his level. We already have enough average CB’s.

Haven’t watched him in Scotland so no idea if he’s improved enough to bring him back. This feels like a lazy press link tbh.
As a squad homegrown option who knows our club and knows how to play under Ange I don't hate it but no way he would be a starter,

oh fuck me.

Has he improved at all since he left us? IIRC, it took us about 5 years to shift him!

Not gonna lie this site seems like bollocks. Dier is probably one of our quicker CB’s once he gets going (top speed) but it’s the fact he takes 12 years to get going and has the agility of a hippo that’s the problem. Also there’s no way Sanchez is our slowest CB.

Yeah the only game I remember of him is the Wycombe game in 2017 where Bayo Akinfenwa and Paul Hayes ran rings around him. Not only were they stronger but even those big brutes were faster than him that day. Not a ringing endorsement.

Of course he was 19 and six years is a long time but I have little hope he's become a top quality PL defender.

Paul Hayes was about 45 years old that day too!
