Can we take a moment to laugh heartily at Everton?

Which also absolutely happened
I guess the important thing is they got Armstrong in the end. But it certainly looks like Chelsea are home free now with no consequences for what they did over the last 20 years. Hopefully City get the book thrown at them, but it’s all gone very very quiet. Newcastle too with the whole “guarantees that their not part of the Saudi state” Now being demonstrably bollocks.

I suspect there’s been diplomatic pressure and the government have in turn leant on the premier league.

you know Everton also did this using money from the equally dodgy Usmanov? The whole reason they are up on these charges is because of their outrageous spending over the last 6 or 7 years which is equally unfair to the likes of Leeds, Burnley etc who got relegated because they couldn’t compete financially. If they get a points deduction and subsequent relegation there’ll be no sadness from me. I very much dislike Everton and their whinging, booing fan base.
Point taken. It's almost as if authorities should prevent wronguns from buying football clubs.

My ire is that some clubs will suffer the consequences, while others now represent the finanacial backbone of the product, sorry league, the authorities rely on to make money so nothing significant will be done IMO. If I'm wrong then I can live with this outcome.

As for our different feelings on this matter, it seems to stem from the fanbase. You have had a negative experience in the main whilst I have had a generally positive one. So fair enough. My sympathies lie with the long-suffering fanbase though as a result.

Same mate, I have a lot of time for Everton fans and their club and what they’re going through, this points deduction would be yet another kick to the balls for them.

If this happens they're very likely going down, and I think administration is a real possibility. Wouldn't mind seeing the title of this thread changed - it's gone from being a bit funny to being a very, very sad situation.
Totally agree mate 💙

If it happened now they’d be on -5, 10 points off safety with 29 games to go, I actually think they could do it and hope they do if so.

The Premier League don't seem to have the same determination to dock Chelsea and Man City with any points deductions, and the way they've both flouted and laughed in the face of Financial Fair Play rules over the last 20 years (in Chelsea's case) makes a mockery of the scale of punishments if Everton get a 12 point deduction.

The Chavs got a slap on the wrist transfer ban which had absolutely no effect on their behaviour. Did it deter them from further misdemeanours? Did it f*ck, they just found more cunning and innovative ways to get round the rules whilst completely taking the p*ss...

Are Everton simply easier to go after than those two ? That's what it seems like.

It's exactly this bold part.

Evidence is increasingly suggesting that the people behind the proposed takeover don't have the funds. They have fingers in the pies of a lot of other clubs all over the world and near every single club is in a worse position now than they were before this lot bought stakes in them.

I just don't see how this could possibly end well for Everton if it goes through.

Deducted points for spending loads of money on shit players and never even winning anything whilst doing it.

So Evertony.

Actually feel a bit sorry for them. Sure they've spent their money terribly but its fine for City and Chelsea to completely ignore all the rules and get off scot free, not ignoring the Newcastle issue!

Hopefully this has set some kind of precedent. I have no idea if there are any similarities in this case to Chelsea and City but if there are, then they have to punish them the same way. And of course strip them of their titles. And pay for a parade for us for the 2017 title.

Damn.

Joint bottom for Everton, then. Fortunately for them, the teams around them are awful so I'd imagine they'll probably be ok come the end of the season.

As others pointed out earlier, if you have to take a point deduction, this is the year to do it. One win and Everton are already out of the relegation zone.

They're better than those around them I believe, so they should be fine with plenty of time until May. Dyche will use this as a siege mentality.
