some comments:

Luckily Abate has the pace to catch up with Bale.

However, Bale also has great technique. It will be interesting to see how Abate handles such an awesome player as Bale. Of course he'll have help from Flamini/Rino on that side.

If it were Antonini on Bale's side, we'd be utterly and truly fucked.

Milan might be ageing but every one of those stars of yesteryear has it in them to still produce when they have to. Make no mistake about it, we will need to
Play out of our skins. I just hope Ledley is back because Ibra is looking mighty dangerous!

You get far too excited about some players, Ibra maybe playing well now but that doesnt mean he will be on form tommorrow let alone in a couple of months. He blows hot and cold more than any player in the world, it would just take Palacios kicking him once from him to go from playing out of his skin to shying away from everything or visa versa.

This will be a tough game but its very winnable, we won't need to play "out of our skins" to win as that makes it sound like it would only happen due to luck, but we will have to put away our chances and be more steady in the centre of the pitch. Fortunately we could have Huddlestone, VDV, King and a host of others back for the game along with some new signings (maybe even another player the quality of VDV).

will the Ghetto kid haunt us again?

Been playing the number 10 role ahead of Seedorf and Ronaldinho, he's been linking well with Robinho and Zlatan lately, and has just started to score a few goals too! We'll need to watch out!

Ibrahimovic is the only player they have that I really fear, and he has on and off days. Pato might be dangerous. Robinho was always awful against us for City, Ronaldinho isn't what he was. KPB will want to prove himself though...

Their defence is slow as hell, alright they can defend but if we can catch them off their guard we will score.

I'm optimistic, and whatever the outcome it will be a cracking tie!

A tough draw but one I'm confident we can progress. Knockout football really sorts the men from the boys and if we can continue to play without fear and injuries are kind to us then by all means we can beat Milan over 2 legs. Yes their attack is impressive, but their defence will be having kittens having to face what we have going forward. Usually I'd say the away goal will be the crucial factor here (which in some respects it still is) but such is our ability at home I'd easily be confident of scoring 3.

Would have preferred Copenhagen and then a glory tie if we got through, would rather go one more round and then not care who we got

At least we have played there and have learnt from that game.

They do have a bit of pace in defence with Abate at left back and Silva at centre back. No idea how they'll cope with Bale though. Zambrotta is doing well again now but he'll have nightmares about facing Bale. Especially when you consider he doesn't get a lot of help in front of him.

Robinho seems to be finding his form now. He'll be dangerous, especially at their place. He doesn't do great away from home though. Ibra is definitely the danger man. While Pato (if he is fit because he's always getting injured) will also be dangerous. Although they might play Pato wide right where I think he's less effective.

The battle of midfield will be about stopping Pirlo. If we instruct VDV to get on him and stop him playing then we could disrupt their tempo. They'll likely play 1 experienced player like Ambrosini or Gattuso with 1 younger option in Flamini or Boateng alongside Pirlo in a central 3. Although they've been playing Robinho and Ibra up front like a front 2 lately, but I think when Pato returns they'll play 4-3-3 with Robinho and Pato wide and Ibra through the middle.

If they do line up like that (and I think they will at home for sure) then Robinho and Pato will offer little to no protection to their fullbacks. Will Harry be bold enough to play 2 wingers again? It would not surprise me if Harry plays 4-4-1-1 in this.

I'd predict something like...

Abbiati
Zambrotta----Nesta----Silva----Abate
Pirlo
Ambrosini----Boateng
Pato-------Ibra-------Robinho

Crouch
VDV
Bale----Modric----Jenas----Lennon
Ekotto----King----Dawson----Hutton
Gomes

Wow, hostile. Unwarranted but ho hum.

I'm not sure where I said we'd need to be lucky but I guess if you're looking to infer something negative, you will. Shame. We weren't lucky against Inter, or away to Arsenal, but we did play out of our skins both times. You don't beat top class sides without playing out of your skin. That doesn't mean I fear them, just that I recognise their quality. Chelsea had to play out of their skins, and even then get some luck, just to draw with us. Doesn't mea. They were lucky, or that we are better than them, it just means that we are a top side and they needed to go all out to get anything from us.

As for thinking Ibra will shy away from a physical battle, I reckon you need to watch him a bit if you genuinely think that. The man might be a bit inconsistent, owing to attitude, but if the good Ibra turns up then our defence will need to be watertight.

We've got to go for it with Bale and Lennon hugging the touchlines. If they go 4-3-3 it's going to pin their left and right midfielders back and stretch the midfield. We really need a fully fit side, with Hudd and VDV back and hopefully Ledley - who the guys on their forum seem to think lacks pace

This is why we sweat blood for 38 games for last season. To play the best teams in the world, we have already played Inter at the San Siro, AC will have seen that, and realise that we are no pushovers.

A hard game, and one not to be taken too lightly, but one that I cannot wait for. I'm soo excited. :)

How is that hostile?

Like I said i'm not dismissing Ibra as he can be fantastic but the guy makes Adebayor and Berbatov look consistent. I also said it only takes one thing to make him either want to play or not, not that he would shy away from a physical battle.

If we play well we are in with a shout against AC Milan, they are a top side but do tend to struggle against both pace and height. So I do not agree with your assessment we would need to be playing out of our skin to beat them as maybe only Barca and Real deserve that to be said about them. We are very much a match for pretty much any team we play even if we are not playing out of our skins, we have shown that againast Arsenal and Liverpool this season.
