Let’s see who else is on the data driven list….if we are still doing that and haven’t given up already (which I suspect we might have).

I think these comments from Ange (speaking about Sarr) provide some context on why he would simiarly value Gallagher's skillset

What do you like about his game?
He’s very good technically. His mobility as a midfielder, which I think is becoming more and more important in the game, is outstanding. His ability to find space, to break lines with and without the ball is very, very good for a young player and a 20-year-old. Those kinds of things in a midfielder in the modern game are very sought after. These days most managers now realise a lot of times the game becomes a transitional game and you need people who can cover territory and do intelligently and he does that. He’s always in the right spaces, he’s always looking to be aggressive in his approach. Technically he’s very, very good.

I probably shouldn't have mentioned Gil's name, as I don't see the two like for like. When I've watched him I actually see him in GLC type mould, despite being a bit bigger. Really good eye for that last line breaking pass, chips in with goals, etc. I've seen him make some tackles and be able to fill the Ange 8 role for sure.

It's probably just a recent history of us not having great success with attacking players from la liga. There's no doubt he's his own player and would give him time if he came. I would also be excited if he were to come, esp since he's only 21.

If you're excited for him too, that certainly helps!
He’s certainly still developing, I mean he only turned 21 in May I think it was and I don’t want to over hype him at all. He certainly has aspects of his game he needs to work on, he’s a very aggressive player who can steamroll situations at times which on the one hand means he is alway looking to move the ball forward via dribbling/passing or pressing aggressively when out of possession but on the other hand can end in giving away fouls or being dispossessed.

But he is an extremely hard worker who is excellent and ghosting into the box and finding space. He’s very good at reading situations and has fantastic shooting technique, 4 of his 11 goals scored were excellent long range efforts from outside the box. He’s also a big game player and doesn’t shy away from looking to make his mark on a game, Celta were on the verge of relegation on the last day of the season but Veiga scored twice against Barca resulting in a win for Celta and their survival. Really he was their most important player in the last few months of the season always looking to drive the team forward. He’s also just as capable of playing in a 10 behind the striker as he is as a CM. Last season he often played in a double pivot when Celta played 442.

As I have said before he is still raw and needs guidance but I think he would be well suited to the PL and most importantly I think his skill set is tailor made for a Ange 8. Also just because he’s raw doesn’t mean he couldn’t play a role from the get go, he will just need a clear role.

Gallagher is obviously further along in his development as he’s older but Veiga has a lot of potential, more so than Conner imo, and would suit our system absolutely perfectly.

If JWP is 25, I'd prefer that though. Very underrated player, who isn't just a free kick merchant.
He's a very good player, for sure. My guess is Gallagher offers slightly more around the park, and if him for 35 vs. JWP at 25, I think I'd still go for Gallagher as he'll offer us something different. We have Porro and Maddison on FKs now.

Close though

Gallagher for 35 I'd agree with you. He's definitely a better stylistic fit for what Ange wants imo.
Gallagher for 50 vs JWP for 25, I'd go with JWP, who I think wouldn't be far off Gallagher in terms of impact.

If Bentancur was fit I probably wouldn't bother, even if we sell Hojbjerg. We would look pretty good in midfield for me. I'm just not sure if we should get 1 more while he's out a few months. Maybe he'll give Ndombele chance as competition and depth to see how he does. If he doesn't do well and Bentancur returns try and sell in January. That's rather than spend on someone like Gallagher. If Lo Celso really wants to go though for sure get someone in. Maybe Veiga given the cost of Gallagher. For now this looks good to me...

Bissouma/Skipp
Maddison/Lo Celso---Bentancur/Sarr

It will probably be £45mil onwards for spammers and £55mil onwards for us. Rivalry tax.

He isn't worth that much.

Agree. They certainly won’t be accepting anything under £40 mil after saying no to WH and we should not even be contemplating him at 40 mil let alone 50+.

A couple of weeks ago he was calling Chelsea the biggest team in England, now he is talking about selling a player he likes, who is tailor made for him, to help them deal further under FFP pressure.
Ultimately i think West Ham offer a lot of Rice money and put this one out of reach for us. Coupled with the fact we dont deal with Chelsea i think we should move on from this one.

I don't think he's tailor made for a Poch 4-2-3-1. Where does he fit? Not really a pivot player and not really a 10. Where do you think he would have played him at Spurs?
