He is miles better than Hojbjerg, is younger and would be a huge upgrade, plus the HG count for us. 50m for a direct rival player with English tax is justified in today’s market. Really hope this one happens.

The 2-week winter break is directly after that game so further games would only be missed if players got far in AFCON.
Yeah, so players could technically miss 4 games. AFCON starts on Saturday 13th so those players will miss UTD. Those players could then potentially still be away for Brentford (30th), Everton (3rd) & Brighton (10th).

The good thing for us is Mali won't get far so bissouma shouldn't miss more than one. Senegal potentially but I think Sarr is easier to replace with our squad options

Haven't looked into it in depth tbh but if we only play once between 13th of January and the 11th of February then we haven't anything to worry about I guess.
There is a winter break I thought.

Totally and I get things right and wrong just like everyone. But the response I had was just rude and ignorant tbh. I wasn't being over confident, I was simply giving my opinion on the players having watched all of them.

Another thing is when people say God we can't risk signing foreign players, they are more likely to flop, when PL players flop all the time. Look at Richarlison! £60m down the drain for a so called 'PL proven' player.

My overall point was I think there's better value to be had outside of the PL because the prices have gone insane. For 1 Connor Gallagher at £50 million, we may be able to get 2/3 good talents (look at Udogie and Sarr for example).
Mate, I think using terms like "analysing" and "scouting", along with your self confident certainty is what leads people to take the piss a bit.
I know it makes me chuckle.
You're a football fan who watches a lot of football, that's it.

We have an actual scout on here who doesn't phrase his posts with as much certainty as you sometimes do.

Maybe we want him but are waiting for Chelsea to lower the price in the final days of the window. If Ange really wanted him then we should have tried earlier to make space for him. Will go to the wire with everything else I suspect. Musical fucking chairs like usual!

I've been scouting players as a hobby for over 10 years. Used to do it a lot more before I had my daughter but it's something I enjoy doing and I used to make extensive notes and go back over them making shortlists for positions etc. I used to send emails to the club years ago too haha, over on COYS I'm famous for my Suarez and Mertens campaigns in particular among others.

I consistently reiterate the views are my opinion, I consistently state that I can be wrong and I always have debates over players in good faith and don't put down anyone else's views. I have confidence in my ability to understand tactics and analyse players. I don't think any of that deserves mocking or being laughed at but if that's your way then fair enough.

Mate that's fair enough, it's a bit nerdy for me but if it's a hobby for you, then good for you.
Don't get offended by a bit of ribbing, we're all from different backgrounds and all walks of life here, so don't take it too seriously.

wonder what you think of this guys analysis? He is very highly rated and seems to like what Conor Gallagher offers

That's a really good account and I enjoy reading his stuff. I agree with him on quite a lot of players tbh.

In Gallagher's case I just think he lacks a bit of finesse and isn't great at general build up play. I do agree that his pressing is good and he's high energy. I don't see the point in him when we have Sarr who imo is already a better player and we also have Bentancur coming back. So spending £50 million on him seems a waste of resources.

To me if we're signing a midfielder it should be someone who plays as a 6 so that we have rotation for Bissouma. I have concerns that Skipp's development has stalled and Ange clearly doesn't see him as a 6 in his system. So instead of signing another 8 I think we should be getting a young 6.

I can only see that role being taken by Bentancur
I’d prefer him as one of the 8s myself but he is good at progressing with the ball and pretty press resistant

I just think when Bentancur returns to full form (fingers crossed he does even if it takes a few months), he has to start. He's verging on world class and is a monster presser too.

Bissouma, Bentancur and Maddison would surely be locked in as our starting midfield 3, form and fitness permitting?

Sarr would be the back up to Bentancur? In which case signing Gallagher could completely stunt Sarr's development and game time?

I think we have to take into account also that Ange said in one of his last pressers that he prefers to have each player having a different skillset or bringing something different to the table, rather than a like for like "clone" if ya will.

Gallagher always gives me a bit of Dele with his runs into the box, scoring some ugly or poacher type goals. Yet his defensive stats are always very good as well. Compared to Sarr, I think Sarr is better at progressing from deep positions . He's shown signs of being able to dribble out of trouble similar to Dembele, or finding a tidy pass. He has shown under Ange he can get into the box and get chances, but needs to improve his finishing (he will).

I wonder if we’ve looked at moscarda in Brazil?
Chelsea appear to be close to bidding.
neither that or redondo for that role. We liked Lavia who fits the profile

It’s hard to say but we’d have a strong midfield group with those 5 plus Skipp (appreciate he is the most limited)

But Sarr is best in the Bentancur role,
and Gallagher is best in the Bentancur role,
and Skipp is best in the Bentancur role.

It's a strong midfield group but I think someone whose natural role more closely matches Bissouma or Maddison (preference for Bissouma) would make more sense.
