His career is certainly heading the right way. Here's hoping we can get him a good loan, and more importantly agree a new contract.

or we do what dortmund do, and give talented youngsters a chance in our 1st team, we have this famed academy - and there's not ONE single player since harry broke through worthy of it having that title, ( maybe skipp)

Could only see that in early round cup competitions. I think a loan would be best for his development right now.

Why?

If he's good enough, he's good enough. Bellingham, Elliot etc all playing on merit
As good as Devine is, he isn’t at the level of Bellingham and Elliot and he’s not quite as physically developed as they are. I don’t think he’ll turn out far off where they end up as players but not at this stage. They are both 19 too, while he’s still only 17. He’s a big talent, no doubt about it, but he’s gonna need a bit more time to develop physically to play in the first team. Technically he’s absolutely superb though and he’s a really exciting prospect

@Flobadob has nailed it.
Not gonna disagree with that at all. I wasn't comparing him directly to those two players.

Merely stating that if he's ready for the first team, play him. Only Conte will be able to make that call

I don’t think he is though unfortunately, not yet. I think if we kept him around he’d almost certainly get some minutes in the league cup or FA Cup if we drew a poor opponent, but I think a league 1 loan would be great for him, get him built up physically and experienced with the battle that first team football is and hopefully he’d come back at the stage Parrott is now after his loan, ready to have a good crack at impressing Conte in pre-season to get a more meaningful place in the squad

he may not be physically ready yet, but having a pre season with conte as well as regime to bulk him up etc, this is why we lose talented youngsters cos we're not willing to give them a chance in the first team, madueke springs to mind, didnt get a sniff, moves to psv & tears it up massively.

bellingham signed for dortmund when he was 17, and made his debut the same season.

Because he’s no Jude Bellingham. And he’s not just ripped up the bundesliga or been playing in England’s first team, he’s u19 England team for a reason

Yeah I feel like there’s no middle ground or patience sometimes. He’s a huge talent but not many players play at the top level at 18/19 unless they are physically superior (Bellingham is a boy in a man’s body) or have incredible decision making and technique (Elliot), Elliot also has a very decent burst of pace and dribbling ability to go with it. They are both exceptional, as much as I hate to say it of Elliot because he’s a little prick and comparing other young talents to them isn’t ideal. Take Chukwuemeka for example, who is a massive talent and he’s not really broken through yet at Villa. We just have to accept it’s much harder for young players to break through in England, it’s a higher level with better players to try and take minutes from. You either have to give them time to develop in training with sporadic first team appearances or loan them out and be patient. Devine needs to develop physically more than anything else, so loaning him out to play week in week out is 100% the best option next season

Totally get your point. I'd think currently a step too fat at present, and heaping that amount of pressure on one so young, might actually be detrimental to his progress.

For him to develop he needs to be playing full competitive games at a level that pushes him. The odd cup game here and there for us won't help him imo. He's 17 and has plenty of time to be brought into the fold, but right now he needs to be tested regularly and pushed physically.

I rate Alfie too, and I hope he stays and gets first team minutes and training, till Jan at least

This is it, for me his technique and talent is undeniable but he’s not ready physically to play at first team level for us. Give him a year or 2 to develop physically and I think we’ll start to see his real potential as a player. I can see him having a similar path to first team football as Kane did, where it was pretty clear for a year or 2 that he was technically amongst the best at the club and then when he developed physically he started to really cause waves in the first team

id personally keep him around until jan, give him game time against lesser oppo ( ie arse) see how he gets on, if hes struggling get him out to the championship.

If I was going to do that with anyone it would be Sarr. He's played a couple of seasons at a much higher level than Devine and is a couple of years older too.

First part of the season stay with spurs, learn from Conte, pre season and early cup games, January loan
