The football league do not require clubs to do regular testing as they can't afford it. They've obviously taken the view the show must go on regardless of players getting sick, so I can't see the game being abandoned. After all, the O's will be expected to play their next game at Walsall.

Orient had no duty to test their players before the game and we should be grateful they did.
I've no time for these 4th rate competitions, and if I were Levy I'd take the opportunity to forfeit the game and wish the O's good luck.

According the Independent, "The discovery followed testing of the playing squad after Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with Mansfield. Mansfield have been informed, as have previous opponents Plymouth and Oldham. The testing was paid for by Spurs as a precaution, with regular testing not mandatory in League Two.

The situation arises on the same day the UK government announced more stringent measure to control the resurgent virus, and means Spurs’ five-mile trip to east London for the Carabao Cup third round is highly unlikely to go ahead at Brisbane Road, and could be postponed."

It's a shame for Orient, but it's clear that they would be responsible for any postponement/cancellation.

Would be a huge blow financially for them considering it's on Sky, I hope if it gets cancelled we can do a pre-season against them next year when fans are back

On a selfish note it would be great for us to get a bye into the next round. Our fixtures are a joke anyway right now so the few the better.

Now, when we finally lift a trophy after a 13 year wait, I’ll always wonder if it should be Leyton Orient’s triumph.

If the game does go ahead, under no circumstances could we risk fielding our first team players. Play the under 23, if they are willing to risk playing.

Playing the game even if it’s just a 10% chance one of their players are infected is madness. Surely it must be cancelled?

I'm sure the entire squad was close to each other when they got tested so you couldn't trust that the players who tested negative haven't been infected in the hours since the test. They cannot possibly field a team. I wonder will they have to forfeit league games as well as this could set a precedent for Premier league teams who go down with it.

What are the player eligibility requirements for FA Cup squads?

Technically you're right, but the O's need that TV money. And that's why there is this delay, imo.
Maybe it is a bluff or just maybe they can dredge up a team including some players who might just become infectious on the night. Then the ball is in our court. Is this a game we really want to play?

The big mystery is whether playing football spreads the virus. Orient players might have spread it to each other on a coach, their gym, or maybe some players were meeting socially.
The football league say they do not routinely test as they don't think playing is a big risk, and tbf I think there has only been 1 documented case in the world of corona definitely spreading outside.

But if a player is infectious, they'd be shedding an immense amount of virus running about and shouting. and common sense tells us this is not someone you'd want to stand too near, even outside, let alone have any physical contact with. That is not very scientific but our scientists are still arguing how colds and flu spread so we are not going to get a clear cut answer to this any time soon.

having watched the games over the weekend and last night there is no way that the two teams are applying the requirements of the fa when it comes to not shaking hands and cuddling other teams players after the match. Spurs players cannot afford to catch Covid. It could ruin our season.
