Frantic end? Check.
80 odd minute goal? Check.
Play-offs? Check.

*sigh*

Deserved to win on the night. Didn't deserve to go through based on the rest of the group. If we play like that, and play a forward alongside McGoldrick, we'll do well in the play-off.

Yeah they really need to start scoring more goals I think. I really enjoyed watching that last half hour, shame they couldn't quite get there.

That's been our problem since, well, forever really. Even in the days of Jack Charlton it was usually low scoring stuff. The talent just isn't there.

So who are they going to heroically fail against in the playoffs?

If Wales beat Hungary and everyone's interpreted the insane set of rules correctly, the League B Playoff Semi-Final would be Bosnia vs Northern Ireland and Slovakia vs Republic of Ireland, with a draw to decide which winner hosts the final.

Northern Ireland vs Republic of Ireland on a Tuesday night in Belfast. 400 matches, 55 nations, 24 places, 12 hosts, 8 years of coefficients, 5 interlinked qualifying tournaments, 4 sets of play-offs, and it comes down to a civil war. Only UEFA!

Barring the time we had Keane and Duff. That team that went to the 2002 WC was good enough to get to the semi finals. The shootout v Spain still grates on me.

Speaking as a man who will sit and watch the game in the comfort of my own home, that would be a fantastic match.

If I was on the island of Ireland, I'd be shitting myself at the prospect of it happening.

It's a straight knockout tourmanent based on Nations League performances last autumn. Semi finals on the Thursday, and the two winners go straight to a final on the Sunday.

Followed by an extra place being given to the best out of three winners at ‘Rock Paper Scissors’, ‘Ip Dip Sky Blue, who’s it? Not you’ and ‘Had’.
