Just heard on the radio that Crouch starts up front with Agboner tonight. Hopefully he makes a good impression. Still prefer him to Heskey and C.Cole to be honest. It should be a good pairing too.

Agreed, Crouch is a proper footballer unlike Heskey and to a lesser extent C. Cole, its just that he is like 3 metres tall that people only expect him to be good in the air. I remember the perfect hat-trick he scored for Liverpool against the goons, quality. His hat-trick against PNE was quality too.

Interesting, good to see them get their chance

I still don't really know what to think of Carlton Cole, he has been shit for years then exploded into form under Zola, he could easily be another Michael Ricketts.

Heskey seems to only play when Rooney does....I just don't think its an especially prolific partnership but then again Italy didn't have one in 2006.

Would be nice to see Crouch stake a claim but I'm always weary because there always seems to be the cycle of players

doing well--getting called up----doing well--alot of hype---then flopping

But it is nice to see Crouch's good form (despite poor finishing) recognised

The thing is, i think Crouch is a better finisher than Cole and Heskey. And his height causes more problems than Heskey's strength and Coles pace.

Theres also talk of Lennon and SWP on the wings aswell. Could be quiete exciting with those 2 on the wings, and Agbonlahor with his pace in beyond Crouch. I hope Carrick plays aswell. We might see some good football tonight.

The only thing with having all that pace at home to Belarus is that they may just sit deep and not let us exploit that, I have a feeling that Beckham will get a start on the right.

Yeah, SWP on the left and Lennon on the right. This is looking an attacking team!

Crouch Agbonlahor
SWP Lampard Carrick/Barry Lennon

I just hope for no injuries to Spurs players. I also hope that Lennon comes back and plays with more energy against Portsmouth than he did last time he returned from international duty.

I hope he does well - I think his Spurs-form can't help but improve if he plays well in the national shirt. Making the world cup squad is critical to his confidence, and if he were to get the nod ahead of Heskey and Cole in the longterm then we'd hopefully see him bring "international" form into the premiership!

But did that really help Defoe? Seemed like he played better when he wasn't for sure in the world cup squad and fighting for his place than it is now?

Would much rather Crouch save his goals for Spurs than for country in a meaningless game.

Shame for Defoe that he is out otherwise I'm sure he'd have got the nod ahead of Agbonlahor, and with Crouch Lennon and SWP creating all the space they do, he'd have probably been like a pig in shit.

Ah well.

=I dont know. I think Defoe has been in top form all season, since he recovered from his broken foot. His form for England and Spurs seem to have gone hand in hand. Similar to what is happening with Lennon. The main thing with Defoe is that he is 1st choice at Spurs now. Whereas before, he was on and off the bench. I think that had a lot more to do with his dip in form.

Sorry but this is a nothing match for England - to be honest I would rather see Lennon and Crouch on their way home and fit and ready for Saturdays match with no risks of injury or fatigue!

Thankfully Robbie will not play for Ireland tonight

I'd take Cole over Crouch TBH, the few times ive seen him this seasons he has been almost unplayable. He gave King a hard time at Upton Park, not often that happens!
