Amazing how things change in football.

Would hate to lose this guy, pretty much first name on the team sheet, dare I say a future captain.

Just imagine the reaction on here if this story was released this time last year...

I don't think he's quite the captain type as he's just not a vocal player, but I agree that I'd hate to lose him. One of the few players we have atm who we can count on to at least put in the effort every single week.

With current inflated market + City's reputation for throwing away money,,10 million might get them Danny Rose's autographed boots.

Shows his progress this year, regardless if it isn't legit, for him to be linked to Man City shows he he catching someone's eye, and for the right reason. Of our regular players last season he is the most improved and at times seems the most committed to the cause.

Imagine how many of us (including myself) would have been cheering and urging us to accept a bid of £10m! Now look! Fair play to Rose, despite our poor defensive record this season, Rose has been good for the majority of it. I remember how some of you were about ready to commit after he signed a new contract! I was happy with the new deal, but that's because I thought he was a good backup to Davies. I think anyone who says they expected Rose to improve so much would be lying but I think Rose deserves a lot of credit for his progress

He's fantastic, but I've said this all along.

Hugo, Kane, and Rose are the first names on the team sheet.

Fuck off City.

After all the crap he's had from Spurs fans over the years why would he want to go to a Champions league club to win trophies and get paid shed loads of money?
I'd be off like a shot and I'm a Spurs fan.

I watched him a lot when he was on loan at Sunderland and he was excellent, so its no surprise to me that he's reaching this sort of level.

Its not just his ability that stands out either, its his attitude which sticks out like a sore thumb in our side. Rose is a winner and is highly competitive and that's probably what's attracting attention his direction,

10 million is a ridiculously low price though in the current market. Levy would be looking a lot closer to 20 I'm sure.

But we should be keeping Danny Rose, we need more of this attitude around. He's the only one who's looked like he's given a shit in the last two games.

if we get anything near £20m we should sell.

Be a good move for Danny boy as well

Why? Have we not learnt our lesson yet?

We should only sell our best players - and against all expectation, Rose has become one of our best players - if they make it abundantly clear that they want to leave and are prepared to disrupt the club if we don't allow them to. And even then, we should only sell them for far above their real value and not to a Premier League rival.

He has done well this season but I'm still not convinced about him tbh, I still do not trust him defensively. He has been one of our better players this year and I give him credit for that but I dont think he is or will ever be a really top class player.

He has been good this season but everyone else hasn't.

He isn't a top class defender, city only want him to fill their English quota.

We can do so much better, so for that sort of money lets get it done. anything close to £10m we should say no thanks.

But can we? This is the point.

Similar things were said when we sold Bale - "sell Elvis, buy the Beatles". The vast majority (including me!) were of the opinion that, gutting though it was to lose such a great player, the team would actually be stronger as a consequence. Sadly not, as it turned out. If we sell Rose and buy some highly rated left back from Europe, there is no guarantee that he won't do a Soldado / Paulinho / Lamela on us. And there is no left back in the Premier League who we could buy who is currently playing better than Rose. So let's keep him.

I'm under no illusions that Danny Rose is a world class left back. But he should be one of the last players that we're looking to sell right now. Let's fix all the areas of the team that are going badly wrong before trying to upgrade one of the few areas of the team that is working relatively well. That's the only sensible way to proceed. It's about priorities.
