On his way to Charlton according to their local press

Charlton close in on Tottenham keeper
Tuesday, 28 August 2012

By Richard Cawley
CHARLTON are chasing a deal for Tottenham goalkeeper David Button.
The Addicks are hoping to conclude a permanent transfer for the 23-year-old shotstopper before Friday’s transfer deadline.
Button has not made a senior appearance for Spurs but he has gained first-team experience during loan spells at 12 clubs.

to free up space for an incoming keeper?

I thought he was quite highly rated by Parkes.

earlier in this summer, i think i read some positive stuff about him from Tony Parks, but he says he is physically not good enough for EPL, and some GKs need a bit more years to improve their size..

good luck to him..

That's a shame if true, was always rooting for him to make the breakthrough.

Hasn't Jordan Archer seemingly overtaken him in the pecking order?

From http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/20120828-button-signs-for-charlton-339122.aspx (more in-depth thanour OS article http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/News/button-to-charlton-28082012.page )

"Charlton have completed the signing of David Button from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee, the club announced on Tuesday.

The goalkeeper becomes manager Chris Powell’s sixth signing of the summer and has signed a two-year contract at The Valley.

Button, 23, is a product of the White Hart Lane academy and has played for several Football League clubs on loan in recent seasons.

“I’m delighted. It’s a massive opportunity for me to come to a massive club like this and I’m really excited for the future,” said the 23-year-old, shortly after putting pen to paper.

Button signed a professional deal with Spurs in 2005 and has been a regular at reserve team level since then. His sole appearance for the first team came in the 5-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers in the League Cup in the 2009/10 season.

Despite finding opportunities limited at White Hart Lane, where even Brazil international Heurelho Gomes found himself as third-choice stopper under former boss Harry Redknapp, Stevenage-born Button excelled on his time away from the club.

The former England U20 international shone while on loan with Shrewsbury Town in League Two in the 2009/10 campaign, before moving up a division when loaned Plymouth Argyle a year later.

Last season he moved up again to play for Keith Hill at Barnsley in the Championship, where he caught the eye, and having now left North London on a permanent basis he will hope to put pressure on the Addicks’ existing goalkeeping contingent.

“We are really happy to bring David to the club,” said Powell.

“He’s someone we’ve been monitoring for quite some time and is a hugely talented young keeper who is a good age and boasts all the right attributes.

“He’s come through the ranks at Tottenham and also has played youth football internationally as well as playing for quite a few clubs on loan, including in the Championship.

“This represents a new chapter for him and it’s great that he feels it’s the right time to make this move and further develop here at The Valley.

“David will provide strong competition in the goalkeeping department and that can only benefit us going forward.”

Button is the second former Tottenham player to sign for Charlton this summer, following central defender Dorian Dervite"

The Cockerel Crows@CockerelCrows
Heard first hand from Tony Parks at a New York Q&A session earlier this month of how highly he rates Lloris. First saw him as 16 year old...
The Cockerel Crows@CockerelCrows
After recent praise & quotes from Tony Parks stating Dave Button is developing very well with age certainly hints more towards Lloris deal..

This tweeter was at the New York fans Q & A where Tony Parks (GK Coach) was talking about Button - good prospect, done very well on loan etc - before answering a question on Lloris.

Good luck to David Button, hopes he gets to wear the no 1 jersey at Charlton in due course.

They signed Dorian Dervite, too?! :D

Gee, I had some high hopes for that guy. He's only on a 12 month deal at Charlton. That knee injury really came at a bad time for him, he was really starting to find his stride the poor fella. I really hope he makes it into the EPL one day.
