Let's just say we play devil's advocate and imagine that Villa does actually sign for us. Will he take the #9 or will he take Lennon's #7. The #7 jersey has been Lennon's for years but I believe it's been part of Villa's 'brand' as it were. I wonder if either player would get shirty (excuse the pun :cautious:) with regards to that.

Villa will likely want #7, so give him that. #9 will probably be Damiao's on deadline day. Lennon can have #17 or something.

Can't see Lennon being too chuffed to lose his #7 shirt after 2 or 3 yrs of wearing it

Do footballers sell numbers to each other? Common over here in "the other football."

But i think this is prob why Levy is so keen to buy, all that extra money brought in from shirt sales from not just Villa but Lennon fans to!

Ade has 10 already and if we keep him will probably keep that. Paulinho will have 8, I believe that's his number for Corinthians.

Where did you get that number from? Has he worn that before?

Yeah, for like 6 years...

Ah totally forgot about Ade :D

I don't know how important the numbers are for some players especially Lennon. But to go back to the number he had when he was a kid might be a downgrade for him. Don't have a clue.

If Hudd / Defoe leave I think no. 6 or 18 are other opportunities for Paulinho.

But as long as numbers are our biggest problem I am fine with that.

Same thing beckham did at Madrid. 7 was taken (raul?) so he split his 7 into 2 + 5

Oh yeah, I remember that. #25 shirt to make up for not getting #7, well that's one way of getting around it. Knowing Beckham I'm surprised he didn't walk out with 26 instead. :cautious:
