Today? It was, wasn't it?

Unfortunately part of a lousy result, but still HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to the wee man!:)

Where does he rank in the all-time list?

Was his 200th goal today, but I don't think for spurs exclusively. Includes west ham and Portsmouth tally's.

Think he's on about 120-130 for us on the top of my head, can't be arsed to look it up, but I think he is top 10 scorers all time for us, and agreed does deserve credit for that achievement :)

Certainly deserves some credit for that. Just think how many more he would have had if he would have learnt the offside rule;)

although im sure that amount would be cancelled out if he learnt to pass when inside the 18yard box;)

40% strike rate with virtually zero assists

An upper mid table striker not good enough to be starting for a side challenging for a CL place and certainly not good enough for England

From 2007 his strike rate has been 43.4%.

Wayne Rooneys strike rate in the same timeframe has been 44.6%.

Wayne Rooney is obviously a better player, but I can't see why you chose to knock Defoes shooting, the one thing he is really good at.

I'm not knocking his shooting. I'm saying he's a good striker not a very good or great one

He had 9 assists last season, 3rd highest in the squad and above VDV. Not exactly 'virtually zero'.

Why let that get in the way of a good story?

Also assists, so hard to judge aren't they, Bale got the assist at Utd for Dempsey's winner but on paper at least there is no recognition of the involvement that Defoe had in that goal! And in fact no recognition for his run on bale's goal there!

And what if you set a player up perfectly and they don't finish the chance, like when defoe set up Siggy perfectly at Reading? Or why should Defoe get an assist for Caulkers goal against Villa?

Stats, stats and stats, they never tell the whole story, that's why God gave us eyes!

Defoe is likely to finish up our 5th all time leading score, beaten only by 4 absoloute legends of the club! And our best scorer since Chivers 40 odd years ago!

And we still have to read how shit he is every week!

Not bad for a one trick pony!

Whilst that is a 'one side of the coin' point, it is not far from the truth really.

I think what Defoe offers best is what he did for us last season, impact sub.

Personally (despite his record for us so far this season) i would like to see Ade become our regular first choice starter and then sub in Defoe with 15-30 mins left in a game dependant on how it's going. Can use him more in the cup games too.

Indeed, it always amazes me that he gets so much stick from some spurs supporters.
