I want Dele to succeed with us so much. But why Lucas is always starting ahead of him, and other, is because I think he really is a good and hardworking trainer.

Agreed, mouras are a dime a dozen. Alli not so much.

Someone posted about 10 pages ago whether moura provides what dele can. He doesn't, dele scores goals. Moura has not scored in the league in 2020. That is awful.

in the bale thread, there is a clip of a golfer interviewing him for a podcast and a 6 hole game. and bale said exactly what i feel now, and exactly pertinent to your comment.

he said sthg to the effect of "nowadays theres too much focus on stats, when the focus shd be on the football. there are days where i played like shit and i feel terrible but i scored 2 goals, and everybody says great game, how does that work? on others, i played a great game but didnt score or assist but i feel good" (not verbatim obvs)

lucas is not just lightning quick and can nick the ball off players when pressing in the opponent's half, he is also extremely disciplined positionally and willing to track back and help his team mates out.

yes often he goes down blind alleys and doesnt contribute many goals or assists. and going by how bale was an opportunistic signing and how jose was happy to almost always start lucas, moura probably ticks more of jose's boxes.

now, on to dele. im not sure how old u are and its not personally directed at you, but in this modern day era of social media and highlights reels and clips, i notice more n more of the younger generation of fans reacting fanatically to 10 seconds of amazing dribble or assist or goal or incident and lose sight of the bigger picture of the match lasting 95 mins and how all 11 players need to play their part to win football matches.

dele just doesnt do enough in those other 80 mins.

I agree with a few posters that Dele is definitely a better player than Moura.

However, it appears Moura may be more of a team player and not willing to cause any issues within the team.

So this may be why Jose prefers Moura over Dele.

Just my opinion, and most of this opinion is based off the doco.

However, we have to base our opinions off what we see, rather than what we don't know.

Kane, Winks, Davies, Doherty, Bale, Hart, Japhet is 21 so doesn't he count? Its not so much a HG issue as it is we just have too many
We have too many foreign players atm, selling deli and buying more foreign players would exacerbate the issue..
Dier and i think Davies in that eg above are considered foreign for the uefa cup.
Until the likes of foyth, gazza aurier are moved its going to be tricky

Cheers

So conflicted with Alli. A frustrating player as he turns possession over a lot based on his decision making but prime Alli gives us goals.

Our midfield 3 (Holjberg, Winks, Sissoko) are giving us nothing in terms of assists or goals. N'Dombele and Lo Celso are more creative but again won't provide goals so we are heavily reliant on Kane, Son, Bergwijn, Moura (ha!) and perhaps a new striker and potentially Bale to score enough goals to get us into top 4 and win trophies. Is that enough?

I think it eould be a mistake to let him go as I do think he can change games. I hope this is Mourinho just trying to get a reaction......

I would prefer to see Alli on the right wing as an inside forward than Moura if Bale is not available. If Kane is gonna drop back and play balls through then Alli does have the intelligence to make inside runs. It would take a bit of adjustment from him but I think he is capable of it.

He's too slow.

Ali does need a kick up the arse but has great ability and should not be sold.. He is an instinctive player who needs to add consistency and to develop his game.

I’m not sure he’s going anywhere. Mourinho has played this trick with established players before. Earlier this year (maybe last year) there was an article on Mourinho in 442 magazine and an interview with the Porto goalie victor baia who said he was dropped for a series of games under Mourinho despite being club captain. In due course he realised Mourinho did it to not just provoke a response from him but also other members of the squad. It was a statement that nobody’s place is safe. That everyone has to fight for their right to be in the team no matter who they are.

I’m not sure the interview ever found it’s way online as it was in the magazine but it’s worth searching out as there are definite similarities here with Dele so he could just be pulling one of his old tricks.

See Ndombele yesterday as a perfect example of what you’re talking about.

Maybe he is keeping him, but resting him for the sheer amount of games we’ve got coming up ??‍♂️

Unless we go back to Poch 4-2-3-1 I am not sure where Ali fits since D1 ITK says Jose wants to play 4-3-3- with 2 players for each position.

Based on what we have now

Son (Bergwijn) Kane(??) Bale (Moura/Lamela)

Winks(Gedson) Celso (Tanguy) Hoejbjerg(Sissoko)

Reguilon(Davis) Dier(Toby) Sanchez(Japhet??) Doc(Aurier)

Lloris(Gazza/Hart)
