I already miss Dele.
And I'm 100 percent certain that we'll regret that we let him go for next to nothing.
That assist in Amsterdam though...
It's one of them.

He stays he continues as he is, useless to us. If he leaves that could give him the wake up call/spark he needs and he could get back to his old self. Can't win either way but we have structured the deal in a way where if he does tear it up then we've got £35-40m.

I for one am gonna miss him, big character, great player, just lost his way. I think it's the right time to move on, hopefully a change will get him back to where he belongs

If all the joy, bravado, aggression, personality and occasional naivety of the Pochettino era could be distilled down into a single player, it would be Dele. I think that's why he means so much to so many of us - it was just joyful to watch him on and off the pitch in those first few years with us.

Dele embodied everything about us in that Poch era - from nothing, young, committed, skilful, fun and passionate. Don't think we'll ever have anything like that again with the connection of the team and fans as one. Proper proper Tottenham no matter his form over the past few years.

Jesus, that video was somehow an even harder watch than the one that the club put out :(

Such great times, but best for both of us to part now to give him a chance to re-find the player in these videos, and to give us a chance to build a new identity. It was never going to go back to how it was before, as much as we wanted it to.

what happens if they sell him before he hits 20 appearances?
There must be some sort of clause

Haven't seen anything definitive, but reading a combination of Romano & Di Marzio's various pieces make it sound like Everton basically pay us £500k for every appearance Dele makes for them in the next 2.5 years, payable at 20-match intervals, up to a maximum of £40m.

If he leaves Everton or reaches the end of the 2.5 year period before hitting one of those 20-match intervals, they pay us at that point for the actual number of games played.

For example, if he reaches the end of the 2023/24 season (or leaves before that point) having played 65 matches for them, they would pay us:
£10m after his 20th appearance,
£10m after his 40th appearance,
£10m after his 60th appearance, and
£2.5m upon his transfer to another club, or the end of the 2.5 year initial contract period.

Yeah there has to be, right?

Can only speculate but if anyone thinks Daniel Levy would sanction a deal that allowed one of his darlings to depart for nay a penny they're surely mistaken. He's usually the one using loopholes to fuck over others, so he's the last person to leave a gaping hole that big in a deal.

If he costs 500k per appearance he has to really tear it up when he's there.

I can see him being rested for almost all of the cup games.

There's a lot of good faith being put into this deal because it can certainly be taken advantage of.

I think people are overthinking this. Everton are not going to pay his wages for 2.5 years and not expect him to get 20+ games in that time.

And, if Dele actually gets fewer than 20 games, at Everton, over the next two years, Spurs did well just to get his wages off the books for 2.5 years.

I have no idea why this has affected me so much. Every time I think of him I'm getting a lump in my throat.

For me, it’s because of the reminder that in my time as a Spurs fan, that team represents the pinnacle of my love of Tottenham. They were so fun to watch, Poch was brilliant, and it just all clicked. I also think it represents almost this sense of mourning, not only for that side being gone, but the fact they never won anything and all we have to show for it is the memories, but nothing tangible like a trophy, etc. It’s really a lot to unpack, and these transfers of once-mainstays from that side drudge it all back up.

watching the tribute videos I couldn't help but think if Alisson doesn,t make that ridiculous save when we played liverpool he maybe would have got his spark back and gone on a run. I still think it was ridiculous from Mourinho dragging him for doing a flick when we were coasting in a europa legaue game right when he seemed to have got going again in Mourinhos first few games and that was the last we saw of the real Dele. I honestly cant think of a more poisonous presence thats been in our club than Jose.
