shame. I was having fun watching him making chin up gestures at the fans after losing, yet again.

So, what is a fascist anyway. Like a rascist but with an R?

an F even :)

The man's a tosser, but I feel slightly cheated out of some entertainment value for this season.

There must be something in the water up there, as Newcastle and Sunderland have to be the worst run clubs in England. Let him make 15 transfers, sell arguably their best player and then sack him after 5 games.

Stupid to sack him after 5 games when letting him bring so many players in this summer

You either back him or you don't

Couldn't care less who takes over if I am honest

Crazy decision IMO, almost as crazy as the one to let him rip apart your squad and replace it with untested players and let him sell sesssgnon.

After the summer they should have backed him. Can only assume they have someone else lined up.

Di Matteo is a good shout - they'll need another Italian to communicate with all the unknown players Di Canio signed.

I think he found his level at Swindon and even that went pear shaped, largely because of his outrageous coaching style.

BMJ, Holloway, Hughton.
I think one of those 3 will be next.

No way will Moyes be sacked this season, virtually no matter what happens. The club said it would rebuild and Fergie himself asked the fans for patience in his farewell speech.

Moyes will likely get this season and probably next too and only then will it start getting iffy. i feel for Moyes, I fear he is on a hiding to nothing.

Guy's a lunatic, you can't have someone like that in charge of a team. He'll struggle to work in this country again IMO. Better off back in Serie B.

They'll be a lot of disappointed fans in the North East today - Newcastle looked likely to finish above them with Di Canio in charge.

To be fair to Sunderland I don't think they had much choice but to sack him. The moronic stuff that he was doing each week was embarrassing and he'd clearly lost the dressing room. Looking at their next five fixtures they probably aren't going to pick up many points there either so they are in big trouble at the moment.

Have to disagree. They shouldn't have, and possibly couldn't, back him anymore. He has publicly shredded half his team, he brought them back early from their holidays and fined them for not showing commitment, Christ he even had a go at them for being a few minutes late for training. he had completely lost the dressing room and no amount of backing was going to change that as I highly doubt any single player in that squad wanted to play for him. Giving him more time wasn't going to change that and could only make things worse.

The only crazy decision here was backing him with money to spend during the summer, or perhaps even hiring him in the first place. His methods were well documented, as was his behaviour. He kept them up last seas, just, and I would have got rid of him then. I feel sorry for whoever takes over now as they will be inheriting a dog turd of a team who have now also had their best player sold. to be honest I'm surprised there hasn't been more attention on Ellis and his decision making as that makes five managers in five years now and they just seem to be getting worse.

He brought in 15 players and still ends up with Gardner and Larsson in centre midfield and Kieran Westwood in Goals.

Any person watching Sunderland last season knew they needed two quality centre midfielders especially one who could put his foot on the ball and try and move the ball. He has ignore that fact and also to top off has bought a dodgy keeper from Arsenal who can't even get into the team to replace their best player.

The bloke is an idiot.

Not surprised that he's gone as according to 5 live this morning the club was unimpressed with his very aggressive style. Could have perhaps given him a couple more games though

Hope not as with Moyes we have a chance to finish above them.

Moyes won't get sacked and we won't finish above them. It simply won't happen. Mainly because United have that ability to grind results to the death.

They'll probably end up about 3rd.
