Some insights into the life of a footballer from our very own 'legend' Rohan Rickets:

http://www.sabotagetimes.com/tag/rohan-ricketts/

the insights include:

  • How to handle playing abroad
  • Secrets of the dressing room
  • Trapped behind the transfer window
  • The truth about sex and footballers
The transfer window article is pretty interesting - esp Rohan's account of how Pleat treated him.
However all of the articles offer a little insight into his and the pro footballers world !!!

Very interesting stuff. Cheers for posting.

I would love him to name some players though. Especially the Spurs player who shat on the hotel floor!

I remember reading this in the papers a few weeks back.

Was very interesting, especially his views on Pleat (who I thought rated Ricketts as put him in team) and his views on sexy time with the ladies.

lol, would love him to name some - never gonna happen tho.
Who was the spurs player he played with whose 1st touch was so abysmal (arguably there were a few shocking players around that time....)?

I noticed a few grammatical errors in that series of article. But overall, this guy has a bit of brains and is the exact opposite that he was made out to be.

I seem to remember his first touch was never of the highest quality. Ricketts always gave me the impression that he was on a different planet. His intelligence both on and off the pitch was extremely limited, actually it was non existent.

I posted this on Spurs Odyssey and the consensus there was that Gary Doherty was the crap player who left and Ben Thatcher was the nutter who tackled the pot plant.

I'll take a really wild guess at someone like Kazuyuki Toda

Gary Doherty?

It gives a great insight into the football world and makes you realise they are all very human and that players come and go for reasons other then foobtall and money.

I would be surprised if it was Doherty because he was at the club for 4 years. I would've thought it would've been someone who was only here a short while.

Definitely sounds like Thatcher on the other one. I remember that sick forearm smash he did to Mendes several years ago.

I thought he said his nan had died to pull out of Irish game, which proved absolute bull shit and hence looked a bigger prick than already was.

I doubt Keane, Hunt or any one other of his team mates would have looked upon with too much respect after this.

Didn't Stephen Hunt rip his hair implants out or something along those lines?

He said that apparently because he was being bullied on international duty and wanted out. Hunt and Keane were pulling his hair extensions or wig or whatever it was he had. Hunt basically confirmed it in an interview, but said he couldn't "take the banter", and thats all it was in his eyes. Ireland is cleary an odd bloke, but according to alot of people who have met him Keane is a nasty one.

Brilliant link, thanks!

I was always a fan of RR, he was much better than JJ (that's Johnny Jackson not the other one) and under-rated by a lot of fans. Terrible to see him languishing in Moldova, Peterborough are/were clearly run by idiots.

Some of the stuff is shocking though, especially the bullying. That's not cool and it's not good for the team if players are doing that to each other.

I'm actually even more disgusted at pro footballers after reading the dressing room section then I already was!

It sounds like being back in the classroom...

A couple of people said in the comments section of the dressing room article that it's a shame that he didn't stand up for the players being bullied.

It is a shame, but then I guess it would have been very difficult situation to have done so, especially given he was a youth player at the time (especially in the Arsenal Galli bit).

Maybe in a way he is trying to shed some light on the bullying, bring some awareness to it and attempt to shame the people.

He probably cannot name them as it would be lawsuit central...
